Logan Webb Named Opening Day Starter

San Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb will start the team's Opening Day contest against the New York Yankees on the road. Right-hander Alex Cobb will pitch the second game, while manager Gabe Kapler said the rest of the rotation is still being sorted out. Nobody should be surprised by Webb getting the Opening Day nod after he had a career-best 2.90 ERA (3.03 FIP), 1.16 WHIP and 20.7 percent strikeout rate in 192 1/3 innings over 32 starts in his fourth year with the team. The 26-year-old should be considered a top-30 fantasy starter in upcoming drafts. Webb finds success not by overpowering hitters, but by using pinpoint location and movement on his pitches. It helps that he resides in a very pitcher-friendly home park.
