Leury Garcia Scratched From Lineup Thursday
3 years agoChicago White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia (knee) has been scratched from the starting lineup on Thursday, but manager Tony La Russa said that Garcia should be able to play on Friday. The White Sox don't want to push him after a night game after Garcia dealt with some knee pain recently. The 30-year-old switch-hitter managed a .274/.343/.387 slash line with a homer, 10 runs scored and 11 RBI in 19 games in the month of June, so it seems his knee issue hasn't really affected him much. Infielder Danny Mendick will take over at the keystone on Wednesday and hit eighth against Minnesota Twins right-hander Jose Berrios. Mendick has a hit in each of his last two appearances, but he's a low-upside DFS play with a .212/.316/.303 slash line and just two home runs in 115 plate appearances on the season.
