Kolten Wong Homers For First Time In 2023
1 year agoSeattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season, an RBI, run scored, a walk and a strikeout in the 10-2 thrashing of the New York Yankees on Thursday. It was a much-needed show of offensive force for the 32-year-old second baseman, who has fallen on hard times with the bat in his first season in Seattle. Even after the two-hit performance on Thursday, he is hitting a pitiful .167 (21-for-126) on the year with three doubles, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored in 44 games played. The poor performance has found him on the bench more often than not. Wong has played in only seven games in June and has gone 4-for-18 (.222) with the one home run, two RBI and seven strikeouts in 20 plate appearances.
