Kole Calhoun Opting Out Of Deal With Yankees
2 years agoOutfielder Kole Calhoun is exercising a June 1 opt-out clause with the New York Yankees and will become a free agent unless the team adds him to their active MLB roster within 72 hours, according to a source. Calhoun has changed his swing this year and currently has a .963 OPS at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, so he's likely to draw interest from other teams if he becomes a free agent again. It's unlikely the Yankees add the 35-year-old to their major-league roster. In 125 games with the Texas Rangers in 2022, Calhoun hit just .196 with 14 doubles, a triple, 12 home runs, 49 RBI, three stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 424 plate appearances. He's a long shot to return any fantasy value in 2023, let alone get another shot in the big leagues with another club.
