Jonathan Schoop Designated For Assignment On Friday
10 months agoThe Detroit Tigers designated second/third baseman Jonathan Schoop for assignment on Friday. The 31-year-old managed to cede his roster spot even on a Tigers team with a relatively thin infield depth chart. Schoop has slashed a lowly .204/.248/.311 with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, and five stolen bases over 617 at-bats since 2022. The former All-Star figures to get a chance with another club as a bench piece, but Schoop could go through waivers unclaimed before potentially becoming a free agent.
