Jesse Scholtens Recalled From Triple-A
2 years agoThe Chicago White Sox recalled right-hander Jesse Scholtens from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. He will take the roster spot of right-hander Mike Clevinger (wrist), who was placed on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 18) on Sunday with right-wrist inflammation. Scholtens is expected to take Clevinger's spot in the team's starting rotation, and he's likely to be lined up to make his first big-league start on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers. In two relief innings for Chicago this year, the 29-year-old has given up two runs (one earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out four in three innings. Scholtens had a 3.99 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 42 K's in seven starts on the farm, and he'll be worth a look in AL-only leagues in the short term if you're in need of pitching depth.
