Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon is battling a lower-body injury and won't play Thursday versus Calgary. He's considered day-to-day. The Wild captain has struggled to keep himself available for the team this season, as Spurgeon has skated in just 13 games. He's only posted four points, which have all come via assists, but Spurgeon is among the team leaders with a plus-six rating. His work also includes 17 shots on goal and 24 blocks. Brock Faber could get a big boost from Spurgeon's absence, as he's a strong candidate to replace him on the first power-play unit.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
