Gary Sanchez Goes Yard In Consecutive Games
11 months agoSan Diego Padres catcher Gary Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in Thursday's easy 10-1 win over the Miami Marlins. The 30-year-old is hitting .294 (5-for-17) with two long balls and five RBI in six games this year. It's been quite some time since the once-heralded New York Yankees prodigy has been a fantasy beast, but Sanchez has at least produced in very limited 2023 action. The former Silver Slugger's lack of defensive acumen behind the plate is no secret, but San Diego is in search of an everyday option at designated hitter with neither veteran Nelson Cruz nor Matt Carpenter catching lightning in a bottle. Fantasy managers should keep Sanchez on the back end of their watchlists to see if the two-time All-Star carves out a semi-regular role in the star-studded Friars lineup.
