2 years agoThe Boston Red Sox activated right-hander Garrett Whitlock (hip) from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned pitcher Kutter Crawford to the minors in a corresponding move, according to a source. Whitlock will make his 2023 debut on Tuesday against the undefeated Tampa Bay Rays, so fantasy managers should be very hesitant to throw him immediately into their starting lineups. The 26-year-old allowed two runs while striking out 14 and walking only two in 10 innings during his minor-league rehab assignment, but he's unlikely to go very deep in his first outing of the season. Whitlock figures to be a key contributor in Boston's rotation this year, although his innings will likely be monitored in his first full season as a starter.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
