Eric Pardinho Undergoes Tommy John Surgery
Eric Pardinho (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday and will miss the entire 2020 season. Pardinho, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, had a nice 2.15 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 35 strikeouts and 16 walks in seven games and one relief outing (37 2/3 innings) for Low-A Lansing and the Rookie League in 2019. This injury will obviously set the 19-year-old back in his journey to the major leagues, but the right-hander was already at least several years away from a potential debut with Toronto. He has the potential to be a mid-rotation starter for the Blue Jays with a good ability to execute all of his pitches.
