Eguy Rosario Out Until Summer With Broken Ankle
2 years agoSan Diego Padres infield prospect Eguy Rosario (ankle) broke his ankle earlier this offseason while doing sprint work in winter ball and will be sidelined until the middle of the summer. The 23-year-old required surgery on his ankle. It's a tough break for Rosario, as he was slated for an extensive opportunity to play in front of the big-league coaching staff during spring training. MLB Pipeline has him ranked as the Padres' No. 5 prospect after he hit .242/.306/.272 in 11 games in the Dominican Republic winter league. Rosario also had a .288/.368/.508 slash line with 22 home runs, 81 RBI and 21 steals in 124 games for Triple-A El Paso in 2022. He saw time at shortstop, third and second base in the minors last year and has the best infield arm in San Diego's farm system.
