Edwin Rios Going On Injured List
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts said that outfielder/first baseman Edwin Rios (hamstring) has a right hamstring tear that will send him to the injured list. The good news is that Rios won't need surgery. Eddy Alvarez has been added to the active MLB roster in a corresponding move. It will be a couple of weeks before Rios will be able to return to action after suffering the injury while running to first base on Thursday. The 28-year-old had mostly been serving as the team's designated hitter against right-handed pitchers, and he was hitting .244/.293/.500 with seven home runs, 17 RBI and 12 runs scored in 27 games played. Zach McKinstry, who was just called up from the minors on Thursday, is serving as the DH and is batting eighth on Friday against New York Mets right-hander Chris Bassitt.
