Domingo German Scratched With Injury
1 year agoNew York Yankees right-hander Domingo German (arm) felt discomfort in his right armpit on Sunday and was unable to play catch, forcing the team to scratch him from his start on Monday against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Manager Aaron Boone said that German will see a doctor soon. "We don't think it's an injured-list situation," Boone said. Jhony Brito is now expected to start for the Yankees on Monday. It remains to be seen if the 30-year-old German will be available to make his next scheduled start on Saturday against the Houston Astros, but if he does, he'll be a pretty risky fantasy play. Since throwing a perfect game against the Oakland Athletics on June 28, German has struggled, allowing 16 runs (14 earned) on 21 hits (five homers) while walking seven and striking out 32 in 22 1/3 innings pitched over four starts. He's allowed 11 earned runs in his last two outings against the Angels and Mets.
