Daniel Robertson Has Edge For Second Utility Spot
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays infielder Daniel Robertson apparently has edged out Michael Brosseau and Nate Lowe for the second utility infielder spot, with his ability to play shortstop a benefit. Brosseau has the ability to play the outfield, and that could factor in with the Rays using newcomer Yoshitomo Tsutsugo at third on occasion. Tampa is famous for getting plenty out of their utility infielders, and Robertson can play second, third and shortstop. Robertson had arthroscopic surgery on his knee last year, which held him to just 74 games. He hit a weak .213/.312/.295 with two home runs and 19 RBI in 237 plate appearances. The 26-year-old is more valuable to the Rays for his versatility than he is for fantasy owners, especially in this shortened season.
