Christian McCaffrey Catches Touchdown Pass
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey gained 45 yards on 10 carries and added three catches for 34 yards and a touchdown in the Niners' 38-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals. With the return of Elijah Mitchell, who had suffered a knee injury in Week 12, McCaffrey had fewer carries than usual. This is in line with coach Kyle Shanahan's typical pattern of running back usage. Between Weeks 10 and 12, when McCaffrey and Mitchell were both active, McCaffrey had no more than 14 carries in a game. Jordan Mason and Tyrion Davis-Price both had eight carries each. McCaffrey finishes the season as the RB2 in both standard and PPR formats. He will remain the 49ers' most dynamic playmaker next season. But with Mitchell and QB Trey Lance returning and rookie RBs Mason and Davis-Price both entering year two, McCaffrey might not have the same volume he did down the stretch.
