Brian Johnson Out As Eagles Offensive Coordinator
11 months agoPhiladelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson will not return to the team next season, according to NFL sources. Head coach Nick Sirianni will have to replace both his offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator this offseason after the team collapsed down the stretch of the 2023 campaign, ultimately losing badly in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter has been mentioned as a possibility to take over for Johnson, but he won't be among the top candidates for the job. The 36-year-old Johnson was in his first season as offensive coordinator for the Eagles in 2023. Prior to that, he helped quarterback Jalen Hurts develop into an MVP candidate in 2022 as the team's QBs coach. But Hurts threw a career-high 15 interceptions in 2023 and the Eagles fell in most statistical categories under Johnson.
