Blake Bortles 2018 Outlook: The Proven Fantasy Playoff Performer
7 years agoThe jury is still out on Blake Bortles as he enters his fifth year in the NFL. The Jacksonville signal-caller is being overlooked by many with an ECR of QB22, despite performing as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in two of the past three seasons. Bortles is coming off a 2017 campaign where he regressed in passing yards (3,687) and touchdowns (21), but still managed to finish as the 13th best fantasy quarterback. One of the underrated aspects to Bortles’ game is his rushing ability. The Central Florida product has rushed for over 300 yards in all four seasons of his career, and has also added 7 touchdowns on the ground over the past three years. Marqise Lee, Donte Moncrief, Dede Westbrook, Keelan Cole, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins make up a strong receiving corps that should be able to make plays all over the field. This is the strongest supporting cast that Bortles has had to play with thus far in his career. With an ADP of the 15th round, Bortles should be viewed as a great value QB2. However, keep in mind that he has proven to be a more than capable fantasy starter, particularly during the fantasy playoffs where he ranked number one last season and second among all quarterbacks in 2015.
