St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright (shoulder) had an injection in his right shoulder after arriving home to St. Louis, and he will be shut down from throwing for a bit to let it heal. Wainwright was placed on the injured list on Thursday with right-shoulder inflammation and probably won't return to the Cardinals' starting rotation anytime soon. The 41-year-old veteran is limping to the finish line of what has been a remarkable MLB career. He hasn't been very effective at all in his 11 starts (51 2/3 innings) in 2023, going 3-4 with a 7.66 ERA (5.88 FIP), 1.99 WHIP, 19 walks and only 28 strikeouts. Wainwright doesn't deserve to be rostered in mixed leagues at this point.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
