Adam Engel Could Return In Late April
2 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Adam Engel (hamstring) landed on the 10-day injured list to begin the 2023 season after suffering a left hamstring injury on March 23. However, Engel could be on track to return in late April and is expected to begin playing in extended spring training games at the team's complex in Arizona this weekend. It's unclear when he might start a formal minor-league rehab assignment. The 31-year-old continues to deal with hamstring injuries. He has some speed that makes him attractive in NL-only leagues, but he's unlikely to see consistent playing time on a stacked Padres roster once he's ready to return. Fernando Tatis Jr. will also be returning from his suspension around the time Engel will be looking to make his debut with the team.
