Abraham Toro Out For A's
4 months agoOakland Athletics third baseman Abraham Toro is not starting for the A's on Tuesday against the hosting New York Mets at Citi Field in Queens. Darell Hernaiz will take his place at third base and will hit eighth against Mets right-hander Paul Blackburn. Toro is quickly losing playing time to Hernaiz in Oakland after struggling since coming off the injured list on July 21. Since then, Toro has gone 8-for-53 (.151) with two doubles, two RBI, five walks, seven strikeouts and one stolen base in 16 games played. On the season as a whole, the 27-year-old Canadian is slashing .242/.290/.355 with a .644 OPS, six homers, 26 RBI and four steals in 330 at-bats. He belongs on the waiver wire in mixed fantasy leagues. Hernaiz has gone 15-for-83 (.181) with a homer and seven RBI in his first 34 big-league games in 2024.
