Nyheim Hines (RB, IND) - Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups

Colts Running back (RB) Nyheim Hines is a waiver wire pickup and add target in leagues for Week 12 of the 2018 NFL season. Brady Grove recommends the Indianapolis rookie for his consistent involvement in the Colts passing game spurred on by the red-hot Andrew Luck.

ANALYSIS: Things have been clicking in a pretty big way for the Indianapolis offense of late, and many players are getting in on the action. At first glance, it would appear that rookie running back Nyheim Hines is too far back in line on the Colts depth chart to receive any considerable opportunity. The North Carolina State product has produced 255 rushing yards on 60 attempts for a 4.3 yards-per-carry. While he is second on the team in carries, he is third on the team in both rushing yards and yards-per-carry behind Marlon Mack and Jordan Wilkins, and he has just one trip across the goal-line from the backfield which came against the Redskins in week two. However, Hines has definitely been the most active Indianapolis running back out of the passing game. He has accumulated 226 receiving yards off of 38 receptions out of 49 targets with two touchdowns this season, while Mack and Wilkins have only gone for 115 yards on 26 targets and 19 receptions (with one touchdown) combined.

Andrew Luck has been on an absolute tear, and at this point in the year has thrown for 29 scores, just nine picks, and 276.9 passing yards per game. Even with Hines being Luck's sixth-best option as a target, that still carries sturdy value when you consider that you are the top backfield option for a quarterback who could possibly have a three-TD game in his sleep at this point. Even with some slow showings over the last few weeks, Nyheim Hines is a dangerous option as a pass-catching back inside a Colts offense that has hit such a strong rhythm.
