Forward Lines To Target - NHL DFS Picks

New York Rangers L2 - Alexis Lafreniere ($5.2K/$5.5K) - J.T. Miller ($7.3K/$6.8K) - Jonny Brodzinski ($3.9K/$4.5K)

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

The New York Rangers have one of the best matchups on the slate, facing the San Jose Sharks, who have allowed the second-most Expected Goals Against Per 60 during five-on-five play, according to MoneyPuck. The Sharks have also struggled while short-handed, allowing the fourth-most Expected Goals Against Per 60, according to MoneyPuck.

The Rangers have recently shuffled their lines and have a new-look top six. While the top unit has been productive, the second line has also generated impressive metrics.

Through its first 17 minutes of shared ice time, this line has generated a strong 3.99 xGoals Per 60. While this is a small sample size, given the favorable matchup, it should continue to generate elite scoring opportunities.

J.T. Miller has scored a goal in each of his past two contests, and Alexis Lafreniere has tallied three helpers over his past two, entering Friday.

San Jose Sharks L1 - William Eklund ($5.3K/$6.1K) - Macklin Celebrini ($6.8K/$7.4K) - Will Smith ($5.3K/$5.8K)

Opponent - New York Rangers

I would also suggest the top unit on the other side of this matchup. The San Jose Sharks' top unit has generated an impressive 67.3 percent xGoals with a stellar 4.63 xGoals per 60. It will face the Rangers, who have allowed the fourth-most Expected Goals Against Per 60.

Macklin Celebrini has tallied nine points (three goals) over his last nine games, while William Eklund has tallied 10 points (five goals) over this span.

Ottawa Senators L1 - Brady Tkachuk ($7.3K/$7.5K) - Shane Pinto ($5.6K/$5.2K) - Ridly Greig ($4.2K/$4.9K)

Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets

The Ottawa Senators will face the Columbus Blue Jackets, who have allowed the sixth-most Expected Goals Against Per 60 during even-strength play this season, according to MoneyPuck. Over their last two games, they have allowed nine goals.

The Ottawa top unit has generated a strong 3.79 xGoals Per 60 with a 61.8 percent xGoals. Over his last 13 contests, Brady Tkachuk has found the back of the net eight times and added three helpers. During this stretch, he has logged 55 shots on goal (4.2 per game) and added 36 hits.

Even though Shane Pinto and Ridly Greig have not been as productive as Tkachuk, their underlying numbers suggest they could be in store for some positive regression, especially in a favorable matchup.

Dallas Stars L1 - Jason Robertson ($7.7K/$7.6K) - Roope Hintz ($6.4K/$7.2K) - Mikko Rantanen ($6.8K/$7.7K)

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

Lastly, my final line to target comes with a hefty price tag. Over his previous four contests, Jason Robertson has found the back of the net three times and added three helpers. Roope Hintz has tallied nine points (eight helpers) over his last six games, and Mikko Rantanen has tallied four points (one goal) over his last three games.

This evening, they will face the Seattle Kraken, who have allowed the eighth-most Expected Goals Against Per 60 during five-on-five play and while on the penalty kill, according to MoneyPuck. This should provide an elite forward line like this with many scoring opportunities.

Other Lines To Target (Cash/GPP):

  • TOR L2
  • CBJ L1
  • NYR L1

Defensemen To Target - NHL DFS Picks

Zach Werenski - Columbus Blue Jackets ($7.5K/$7K)

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Zach Werenski has a fantastic matchup this evening in facing the Ottawa Senators, who have allowed the second-most Expected Goals Against Per 60 while short-handed. Werenski has seen over 2.5 minutes of power-play time in each contest this season.

Even though he carries a six-game scoreless streak into this game, he should be viewed as a top option on this slate. Before this skid, Werenski tallied 10 points over his last seven games, with two of his points coming on the power play. During this stretch, he logged 19 blocked shots as well.

Drew Doughty - Los Angeles Kings ($4.5K/$5.8K)

Opponent - Toronto Maple Leafs

Drew Doughty and the Los Angeles Kings will face the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have allowed the third-most Expected Goals Against Per 60 while short-handed. Since making his season debut in late January, Doughty has been deployed as the clear power-play QB1 in Los Angeles.

Over his last eight games, Doughty has tallied five points (one goal), with three of his points coming on the power play.

Mason Lohrei - Boston Bruins ($4.4K/$4.9K)

Opponent - Detroit Red Wings

My final defenseman to target is Mason Lohrei of the Boston Bruins. Lohrei will face the Detroit Red Wings, who have allowed the most Expected Goals Against Per 60 minutes while short-handed. Even though Lohrei has not tallied a point in his last seven games, during this stretch, he has averaged over two minutes of power-play ice time in each contest.

However, before this skid, he tallied six points (two goals) over his last nine, with three of his points coming on the power play.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Adam Fox - New York Rangers ($6.5K/$6.2K)
  • Thomas Harley - Dallas Stars  ($6.7K/$6.4K)

Goalies To Target - NHL DFS Picks

Jake Oettinger - Dallas Stars ($8.2K/$8.3K)

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

Over his last four contests, Jake Oettinger has posted a perfect 4-0 record with a 1.98 GAA and a .936 save percentage. This was a nice turnaround as he held a much higher 3.71 GAA over his previous four contests.

This evening, he will face the Seattle Kraken, who have generated the fifth-fewest Expected Goals For Per 60, according to MoneyPuck.

Darcy Kuemper - Los Angeles Kings ($7.9K/$7.6K)

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

My other goalie to consider has also enjoyed a strong stretch of recent play. Over his last seven contests, Darcy Kuemper has posted a stellar 6-1 record with a 1.00 GAA and a .954 save percentage. During this stretch, he allowed one or fewer goals in five contests.

Even though he will face a potent Toronto offense, Kuemper's strong string of recent performances makes him a viable play. Playing behind a strong Los Angeles defense should help keep the Toronto offense contained.

Other Options To Consider:

  • Joseph Woll - Toronto Maple Leafs ($7.7K/$7.9K)
