NHL DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks (10/16/24) - Today's Top Lineups

The top NHL DFS daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on October 16, 2024. Sean's NHL DFS sleepers picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

Be sure also to check out our awesome NHL tools, including our Lineup Optimizer, Research Station, Projections, and DFS Cheat Sheets!

NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 10/16/24

As the new NHL season kicks off, I am thrilled to be back, and I can't wait to provide you with valuable insights and winning strategies throughout the season here at RotoBaller.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

 Jeremy Swayman -  DK $7.5K || FD $8.1K

Opponent -  Colorado Avalanche

I believe that the Bruins could be a good choice to hand the winless Avalanche another loss this season. I think Swayman's $7,500 price tag is influenced more by the Avalanche's performance in recent seasons, rather than their struggles this year.

 Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):
  • U.P. Luukkonen - DK $7.2K || FD $7.5K

Want more NHL DFS tools and content? Our NHL Premium package includes our daily DFS Cheat Sheets, Research Station, Lineup Optimizer, and access to our VIP Discord Chatrooms. Doug Shain (@BanksterDFS) joins the NHL team in 2023 with his proven track record - join in on the winning!

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Lars Eller - DK $3.1K || FD $4.1K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

Attacking the bottom six of the Buffalo Sabres last season worked very well for us, and on a slate with some of the big boys playing, we need some value. I love Eller in this spot, as he fired four shots on the net in the first home game against the Rangers. I expect that to continue tonight as he will not be up against the Thompson line for most of the game as Pittsburgh likes to go H2H with the Crosby line on home ice.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  •  Barrett Hayton (DK $4.6K || FD $4.5K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Ross Colton - DK $3.8K || FD $4.6K

Opponent - Boston Bruins

The Colorado Avalanche are under pressure after a tough start to the season, with three consecutive losses and being outscored 20-10.

Tonight, Colton is stepping up to join Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen on the wing (although he is still listed as a "C" on FanDuel). Colton has already scored one goal, provided one assist, and taken seven shots in two home games. He will have every chance to improve on his start to the season tonight. With the Avalanche's rough start and playing the Bruins tonight, I don't think he will be too popular.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Rickard Rakell (DK $3.9K || FD $4.9K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Oliver Ekman-Larsson - DK $3.0K || FD $4.1K

Opponent - Los Angeles Kings

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, known as OEL in the league, could be the standout player of the night due to his exceptional value. In the first three games, he has demonstrated his prowess by leading the Maple Leafs in shots with a total of 11. Furthermore, he has been entrusted with the crucial role of spearheading the top power-play unit.

The Kings, on the other hand, are enduring a grueling opening road trip, with tonight marking their fourth road game in merely six nights. Although they showcased a solid defense in their initial two games, their performance took a nosedive on Monday, conceding an astonishing eight goals in a thrilling 8-7 loss to the Senators in overtime.

This inconsistency leaves uncertainty about their performance tonight. Considering OEL's modest price tag of only $3K on DK, I am optimistic that he will easily provide three times his value tonight.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Marcus Pettersson (DK $3.6K || FD $4.4K)
