RECENT NEWS
Injury Status: Healthy
Running back Aaron Jones Sr. (knee) does not carry an injury designation for the Minnesota Vikings' Week 8 visit to Detroit, giving him some RB3/Flex appeal despite the lingering ailment. The Lions' primary struggles on defense have come against the pass, which plays into the veteran running back's skill set, though it's tough to predict how many snaps he'll be afforded after reaggravating his injury last week. Now that fellow running back Jordan Mason is back, the Vikings are looking at a split that likely will favor Mason on clear rushing downs and Jones in passing situations. Jones practiced on Thursday and Friday, so he's set to play against the Lions, but volume could be an issue. As RotoBaller's No. 28 running back this week, Jones is playable in standard formats, but managers should consider the whole picture before setting their lineups.

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. had an underwhelming second year in Minny, tallying 132 carries for 548 yards and two touchdowns on the ground over 12 games, with a hamstring injury forcing him to the injured reserve in September. He would add 28 catches for 199 yards and an additional TD, but overall, was only a top-20 weekly half-PPR RB four times, and never higher than 12th. Jordan Mason would punch in six rush TDs, average 4.8 yards per carry to Jones' 4.2 mark, more than double the missed tackles forced rate, and register a 56% success rate to Jones' 50% clip. Those in PPR formats can still lean on Jones as the clear receiving back. New signal-caller Kyler Murray completed 87% of his throws under nine yards last year, while JJ McCarthy mustered a 74% clip. And it is easy to chalk Jones' lesser rushing form up to the early IR stint, making him an intriguing rebound play in an improved offensive environment. For now, he still represents a good value with an early ADP of 124 as the RB40, considering his top-100 RotoBaller rank.less...
