NBA Waiver Wire: Shallow League Adds for Week 7

Week 7 fantasy basketball waiver wire adds for shallow leagues. Take a look at three NBA players who are owned in less than 65% of fantasy basketball leagues.

It's Week 7 – and players are solidifying themselves in their roles for the season. Bench risers are becoming starters, and those losing traction are getting their minutes cut. It’s time to take advantage of those risers before they’re gone for good this season.

This year, we're tossing out our old convention of separating waiver wire posts into positions, and instead, we're separating them into of league -- standard, shallow, deep, etc. The NBA is trending to positionless basketball, so we at RotoBaller should too.

For shallow (8-10 team) league adds, we use a general rule of thumb of an ownership rate of under 65% on Yahoo. All position eligibility based on Yahoo leagues.

Shallow League Adds for Week 7

John Collins, PF/C – Atlanta Hawks

Ownership: 60%

11.5 PPG / 7.1 REB / 0.9 BLK / .581 FG%

The man finally has the starting job, after taking over the Power Forward role last week. He has started alongside Dewayne Dedmon, so there is no debate to be had over losing minutes, as both have had solid seasons so far and should be owned. John Collins’ first start of the season was against the Clippers and he put up a juicy 14 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals on Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

Over the past two weeks, Collins has been scoring 14.0 points per game on a ridiculous .750% shooting from the field, while grabbing 6.8 boards per game. He is also producing on both ends of the floor, chipping in 1.2 steals and 1.2 dimes per game. The blocks aren’t there yet, as Collins is only at 0.9 per game this season, but now that he is a starter, all of his numbers should take a nice bump. Collins has been a dunk machine lately and has a spark for the Hawks that they’re excited about. He should be rostered in all leagues and is a prime target to pick up if he is somehow still available.

Jeremy Lamb, SG/SF – Charlotte Hornets

Ownership 65%

15.9 PPG / 5.3 REB / 3.4 AST / .451 FG%

Jeremy Lamb stepped up nicely in Nicolas Batum’s absence over the first month of the season and has kept it up since his return. He has been playing too well for the Hornets to take away much of his playing time, and with Batum still not fully up to speed, Lamb is considered a hold until he cools off.

He is contributing across the board this season, adding something in every category each night, with 1.5 3PM the highlight—but his real value lies in his percentages. An efficient .451 from the field sits alongside a good .857% from the charity stripe, which he is getting to at a rate of 3.8 times per game. Rounding into one of the leagues best sixth men, Lamb is benefiting from playing more aggressively this season. With or without Batum in the lineup, Lamb has more upside than most players on the waiver, and fits in nicely as someone to ride while they're hot and have on your roster in a permanent streamer role through the season.

Courtney Lee, SG/SF – New York Knicks

Ownership 58%

12.4 PPG / 3.8 REB / 3.1 AST / .477 FG%

Courtney Lee has been one of the league's hottest players lately, flourishing in a newfound Knicks offense, while contributing as a solid defender. Since he was included in our Standard League column two weeks ago, he has not let up, averaging 14.9 points on .520% shooting per game, while adding in 4.1 boards and 2.5 assists per game.

With Kristaps Porzingis battling through injuries, the Knicks have needed Lee to step up, and he has. With 1.7 triples and 1.4 steals per game, he is contributing sneaky good value as a 3 and D guard and has a high floor as he is averaging over 32 MPG with a coach that loves him. He is even playing his way back into the graces of Knicks fans, which is saying a lot. He is not going to give you a serious edge in any categories, but he will consistently put up the all-around numbers needed to help you win your week.
