NBA Rookie Fantasy Profile: Jarrett Allen

Position: C

Team: Brooklyn Nets

Draft Spot: 1.22

Analysis: Allen was somewhat of a surprising entering the draft, but he came with great high school pedigree. He enjoyed success at Texas, but was not able to carry the team the way many scouts believed he was capable of. Still, he was drafted in the first round by the Brooklyn Nets.

Allen played 32.2 minutes per game during his only season at Texas, averaging 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He was an efficient scorer inside of three-point range, connecting on 56.6% of his field goals. He was unable to make any of his seven three-point attempts on the season, though. He also struggled with a 56.4% free throw percentage.

Allen was drafted into a great position. The Nets are a rebuilding team that know what they have in their current center. Timofey Mozgov is seen as the starter, but it is only a matter of time before he loses his job. Tyler Zeller could take over, but he simply does not have the upside to compete with Allen. Allen should see a big role at some point this season, and he is an athletic big man that can make the most of his time on the court.

Bottom Line: Allen will produce points, rebounds, and blocks once given the playing time. He will struggle with most percentages and efficiency, though.
