NBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks - FanDuel DFS Basketball Advice for 12/31/15

By Keith Allison [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Scott Z highlights the top NBA DFS lineup picks for 12/31/15, as well as a couple of sleepers to keep in mind while building your roster on FanDuel.

In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for FanDuel for 12/31/15. The picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays.

Tonight we have a pretty big slate of six games for the typical Thursday night. Not only do we have some great match ups, but plenty of bargain players with big upside to fit an extra star into your lineup.

Good luck and feel free to hit me up on twitter @udontknowziplow with any DFS questions

FanDuel DFS Point Guards

Brandon Knight (at OKC, $6,900)

With Eric Bledose out for the rest of the season, Brandon Knight will quickly become a regular DFS recomendation. It was just last year the Knight was sniffing a triple double almost every night for the Milwaukee Bucks as their primary scorer and ball handler. I expect huge numbers out of Knight going forward and although he is matched up against Russel Westbrook, he'll have the ball in his hands enough to fall into 30 FD points, and should be able to reach much higher. He's one of my top picks of the (K)night 😉

Ricky Rubio (at DET, $7,500)

Honestly I don't love playing Rubio in DFS because of his complete lack of scoring, but the numbers he has been putting up are hard to ignore. He's scored 38  or  more FD points over his last two contests, averaging 13 assists per game over that span. That's about 20 FD points from just assists! With Curry and Lillard questionable for tonight, I'll take put my money on the point guard who is red hot and considerably cheaper.

FanDuel DFS Shooting Guards

Klay Thompson (at HOU, $7,300)

This pick largely hinges on whether or not Stephen Curry plays tonight, so keep an eye on his status. Klay Thompson didn't play so well without his backcourt partner last night, but I think things will turn around tonight against the Rockets. This game should have a much faster pace, which will surely give Klay plenty of opportunities to score in transition and take over more of a facilitator role without their star point guard. If Klay gets hot early I think we're looking at 40 or more FD points tonight.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (at MIN, $5,500)

With a handful of bigger name shooting guards ahead of him, I think Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will be criminally under-owned tonight. Although his recent performances have been very luke warm, he is still hitting value, and has shown many times this season he can put up huge numbers. I mean two weeks ago he scored over 40 FD points twice in the same week. This is definitely more of a GPP play, but I'd feel pretty safe playing him in any format considering his consistency hitting value.

FanDuel DFS Small Forwards

Gordon Hayward (vs POR, $7,600)

Gordon Hayward is always one of my favorite DFS plays. He's had a bit of a down year by his standards, but has been heating up recently while the Jazz are dealing with multiple injuries. Make sure to keep an eye on Derrick Favors status heading into tonight's game. If he sits, Hayward should be locked into all of your lineups. Although he played 36 minutes last night in Minnesota, that doesn't deter me at all from rostering him, the Jazz need him to produce while they deal with their injuries.

Paul Pierce (at NOP, $3,800)

Bargain bin special! At $3,800 Paul Pierce needs to score about 10 points and grab a rebound or two to hit value. He should be able to do that in the first half tonight. Without Blake Griffin the Clippers will have to lean on Pierce a bit more in their front court rotation, which should result in a big increase in Pierce's DFS value. He's scored over 25 FD points in two of the last three games, and should be able to continue that trend against the second worst defense in the NBA.

FanDuel DFS Power Forwards

Anthony Davis (vs LAC, $10,200)

Without Blake Griffin this game opens up a lot of opportunities for Anthony Davis against an extremely thin Clippers frontcourt. Yes I know, DeAndre Jordan is a very good defender. However, I'm gonna roll the dice a bit on DeAndre getting into foul trouble trying to contain AD. If he does, even for a little bit in the first half, AD will be guarded by Josh Smith, Paul Pierce, and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute- basically he'll be able to score at will. But seriously, AD is match up proof, and has the potential to have one of those monster AD nights if things play out right for the Pelicans.

Draymond Green (at HOU, $9,200)

You can pretty much copy and paste what I wrote about Klay Thompson above.  If Steph sits tonight, Draymond will be even more of a focal point in the Warriors offense. We have seen Draymond stuff the stat sheet and put up huge DFS numbers, but he only averages about 15 real points a night. The Warriors will need him to score more tonight, which will turn his normal 40 FD point nights into 50 or 60 FD point nights.

FanDuel DFS Centers

Jeff Withey (vs POR, $3,900)

This pick completely hinges on Derrick Favors injury, so keep a close eye on his status before lineups lock. Withey is coming off of two 30 FD point nights, averaging a double double over those games. At $3,900, anything above 20 FD points is a premium, and I think he has the potential for much more tonight. The Portland Trailblazers are the fourth worst  rebounding team in the league by overall REB %, and Jeff Withey should feast on the glass all night. If Damian Lillard sits it boosts his value even more, remember: More misses equals more rebounding opportunities.
