Recent Update

9/18:Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts (thumb) is back in the starting lineup Monday, playing in right field and hitting cleanup against Orioles starter Dylan Bundy. Betts received a minor scare Sunday when he injured his thumb, but everything is alright. Get him back into all starting lineups. The do-it-all outfielder isn't as good as he was in 2016, but he's still pretty darn good.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Beat Writer Chatter

  • @PeteAbe: Mookie Betts has 99 RBIs, 97 runs, 70 XBHs + great defense. Given all he has meant to a first-place team, should be top 5 in the MVP.
  • @PeteAbe: Betts is certainly not the fastest player in the majors. But not sure anybody has better instincts on the bases. Always thinking ahead.
  • @PeteAbe: Betts scored from second on an infield hit. Peak Mookie this inning. 5-4 Sox and it’s Reed and Kimbrel time.
  • @PeteAbe: The Red Sox still don’t have a grand slam. But they have tied the game. Betts with a 3-run double.
  • @IanMBrowne: Betts hammered that pitch into the gap, and it's all tied up. Bases clearing double.
  • @PeteAbe: #RedSox now have the go-ahead run at the plate in Mookie Betts. They are the only MLB team without a grand slam this season.
  • @IanMBrowne: Sunday in Cincy: Bogaerts SS, Pedroia 2B, Benintendi LF, Betts RF, Moreland 1B, Devers 3B, Bradley Jr. CF, Leon C, Fister RHP.
  • @PeteAbe: Homeward bound: Bogaerts SS, Pedroia 2B, Benintendi LF, Betts RF, Moreland 1B, Devers 3B, Bradley Jr. CF, Leon C, Fister RHP
  • @PeteAbe: Mookie Betts scratched. Has a bruise on top of his left foot after a foul ball last night. Day to day.

  • @PeteAbe: Mookie Betts is in the lineup but is walking around with a pretty good limp. Stay tuned.

  • @PeteAbe: #RedSox:Bogaerts SS, Benintendi LF, Betts RF, Moreland 1B, Vázquez C, Devers 3B, Holt 2B, Bradley Jr. CF, Rodriguez LHP.

  • @IanMBrowne: Bogaerts, Pedroia, Benintendi, Betts, Moreland, Vazquez, Devers, Bradley, Porcello. No DH tonight in Cincinnati.
  • @PeteAbe: #RedSox: Bogaerts SS, Pedroia 2B, Benintendi LF, Betts RF, Moreland 1B, Vázquez C, Devers 3B, Bradley Jr. CF, Porcello RHP.
  • @alexspeier: It appears Betts has recovered from his jammed thumb.
  • @PeteAbe: Betts has 94 runs, 96 RBIs, 73 walks and 68 XBHs. That’s a “down season” most players would celebrate.
  • @PeteAbe: Mookie Betts, the King of Camden, with another HR. 2-0 Sox.
  • @PeteAbe: Devers gets a day: Bogaerts SS, Pedroia 2B, Benintendi LF, Betts RF, Ramirez DH, Travis 1B, Marrero 3B, Leon C, Bradley CF. and Sale LHP
  • @IanMBrowne: Bogaerts, Pedroia, Benintendi, Betts, Ramirez DH, Travis, Marrero, Leon, Bradley with Sale pitching finale in Baltimore.
  • @PeteAbe: #RedSox:Bogaerts SS, Benintendi LF, Betts RF, Moreland 1B, Vázquez C, Devers 3B, Travis DH, Holt 2B, Bradley Jr. CF, and Pomeranz LHP.
  • @IanMBrowne: Game 2 in Baltimore. Bogaerts SS, Benintendi LF, Betts RF, Moreland 1B, Vázquez C, Devers 3B, Travis DH, Holt 2B, Bradley Jr. CF, Pomeranz.
  • @PeteAbe: Mookie Betts is one of 10 players with at least 90 runs and 90 RBIs. But the only one without 30 HRs.
  • @alexspeier: Betts clears the bases and the Red Sox - down 5-0 and 6-1 in this game - lead, 7-6. Orioles pitching in 2017...
  • @PeteAbe: And damage Betts does. 3-run double to left and Benintendi, hair trailing in the wind, scores the go-ahead run.
  • @PeteAbe: Bradley’s dogged 9-pitch at-bat seemed to wear Bundy down and opened up the inning. Now Betts in a spot to do damage.
  • @IanMBrowne: First of 3 in Baltimore. Bogaerts, Pedroia 2B, Benintendi, Betts, Moreland, Vazquez DH, Devers, Leon, Bradley. Fister SP.
