Recent Update

9/1:Rockies first baseman Stephen Cardullo went 3-for-5 with two home runs (including a grand slam) and five RBIs in Wednesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers. The freshly-minted 29-year-old celebrated in style, hitting his first career homer in a pinch-hit appearance in Game One before clobbering a grand slam in Game Two. Cardullo spent the last four seasons playing independent ball, and earned this promotion to the bigs by hitting .308 with 17 homers and 72 RBIs for the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate. This is a new name that has burst onto the scene that houses some power and gets to hit at Coors Field half of the time. Don't scoff at the opportunity, as the Rockies should look to work him in down the stretch, though the return of Mark Reynolds does clog the lineup card a bit.--Nick Mariano - RotoBaller
