Recent Update

7/1:Pittsburgh third baseman David Freese may be getting more time off in the near future. Freese started the season hot, batting .321 in April until a hamstring strain forced him to miss extended time. Since then, Freese is hitting .219 with just five extra-base hits. He sits at .249 with six home runs and 25 RBI on the season. Freese is only playing every day because of Jung Ho Kang's legal issues in Korea, something he is keenly aware of. “I was a guy that was going to come in and spell Kang, play some first and get my [at-bats]. … You guys see how I am when I’m fresh. It [stinks], but it’s just a different story now [vs.] when my legs are fresh.” Once Starling Marte returns, Adam Frazier will see more time at second base, with Josh Harrison playing third on occasion. Freese's limited value may be effectively nullified in the second half of the season, even in NL-only leagues.--Pierre Camus - RotoBaller
