Recent Update

6/26:The Milwaukee Brewers have a new catcher as they claim Stephen Vogt off waivers and then optioned both Jett Bandy and Lewis Brinson back to the minors. Vogt was having a poor season for the Athletics but the Brewers plan to have him split time with Manny Pina. Vogt brings a left-handed bat and a much talked about clubhouse presence to a young team. Brinson being optioned comes in response to the expectation that Ryan Braun will be activated in the next few days. Milwaukee's next three games are against a subpar Cincinnati pitching staff in their hitter-friendly ballpark.--Jamie Mellor - RotoBaller

  • @AdamMcCalvy: A 3-1 win pushes Brewers back into a virtual tie for 2nd place with STL. Pina drove in a pair, Broxton went deep and Davies got win No. 14.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Pina's two-out, go-ahead infield single had a hit probability of 7%, per @Statcast. Sogard's inning-ending lineout was 87%. Baseball!
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Brewers grab a 2-1 lead on Manny Piña’s two-out grounder to the left side. Josh Bell’s foot slightly off the bag on a bang-bang play.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Manny Pina beats a two-out infield hit as the go-ahead run scores. Clint Hurdle has already used his challenge.
  • @Haudricourt: #Brewers make lemonade out of a defensive lemon but #Pirates are challenging that Pina blocked plate against rules. We shall see.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Brewers do nothing after Piña’s HBP, and Corey Knebel coming on for the ninth.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Manny Piña drilled in the right elbow with a 94-mph fastball here in the eighth, but he’s OK and walking to first base.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: 3-0 now on Manny Pina's double. Brewers have apparently shed that slump.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Now Manny Piña dumps a two-out, ground-rule double just inside the RF line, and Walker scores to make it 3-0.
  • @Haudricourt: Pina flies out to center and Aguilar will bat for Knebel with two down in 10th and Sogard on second.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Pina flies out to right-center. Should have advanced Sogard, but he didn't try to tag and advance.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Eric Sogard walkoff homer would have been peak baseball. It's a one-out double instead. Pina up. Let's talk about bunting.
  • @Haudricourt: Sogard makes a bid for a walk-off homer but settles for double off wall in LC with one down in #Brewers 10th. Pina up.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Now Pina enters the game in a double switch. Ask someone else to explain, plz.
  • @Haudricourt: Double switch as Hader is in to pitch and Pina in to catch.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Pina and Aguilar strike out with the tying runner in scoring position in the 8th, and Reds carry an 11-9 lead to the ninth.
  • @Haudricourt: Huge strikeout for Iglesias, getting Pina swinging at a slider for second out.
  • @Haudricourt: Santana doubles off Duvall's glove in LF. Shaw probably could have scored but stops at 3B. One out for Pina.
  • @Haudricourt: Santana strikes out for first out in #Brewers sixth but Pina singles to load bases. Sogard, who started inning with single is up again.
