Daily Fantasy Leagues - FanDuel Lineup Picks (5/5)

By Skoch3 (Own work) [CC-BY-SA-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0) or GFDL (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html)], via Wikimedia CommonsP: Max Scherzer ($10,400): Normally, I would caution against taking a pitcher with this high of a price tag, however this matchup seems too juicy to avoid.  Scherzer is rolling through this season with 51 strikeouts in 39 innings and has posted a 2.08 ERA.  Along with that, Houston in the bottom three in runs scored and currently tied for most strikeouts.  Don’t be surprised if Scherzer puts up 15 strikeouts and a shutout tonight.

C: George Kottaras ($2,400): Kottaras should be a popular pick tonight as he is near the bottom of all players in price and is coming off of a two home run game on Sunday.  He is filling in for Yan Gomes who is currently on the paternity list, and George should be active tonight against a Twins staff that is 28th in the league in ERA.

1B: Freddie Freeman ($3,600): Because of his recent struggles, Freeman’s price has started to take a hit.  The bad news is that he only has 1 RBI in his last six games, but the good news is that he faces a right-handed pitcher in Shelby Miller.  I am expecting a break out game from the power-hitting 1B man tonight.

2B: Howie Kendrick ($3,500): Over the past few weeks, Kendrick has been one of the best hitters in baseball.  Now locked into his role as leadoff hitter, he has flourished for the team that is third in MLB in runs scored.  Tonight’s matchup with fill-in starter David Phelps of the Yankees should be one he takes advantage of in a big way.

3B: Adrian Beltre ($3,200): Before yesterday, Beltre had been struggling since his return from the disabled list.  On Sunday, he went 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored against the Angels.  Look for Beltre to keep that hot streak going in the thin air of Colorado tonight against Jordan Lyles.  He is currently outside of the top 12 in price for 3B, so make sure to take advantage of his skill and matchup tonight.

SS: Jose Reyes ($3,300): Likely a big gamble play tonight by many, the uber-talented Blue Jays shortstop is hitting under .200 on the season, but has a hit in three straight games and tonight has a great matchup with Kyle Kendrick who gave up 10 hits and 2 earned runs in just 5.2 innings his last outing.  If he can get on, Reyes is a threat to steal multiple bases and should score a few runs tonight in front of Bautista and Encarnacion.

OF: Carlos Gomez ($3,800): Gomez has been a solid all-around fantasy contributor this year with 17 extra-base hits and 17 RBI thus far.  The Brewers offense is not as powerful without Ryan Braun, but tonight they face Mike Bolsinger and his 5.79 season ERA.  Milwaukee should be able to put a few runs on the board tonight and their leadoff hitter should be at the head of the attack.
