Mike Tauchman (OF, NYY) - Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups

Ellis Canady profiles Yankees outfielder Mike Tauchman as a waiver wire pickup and add in Week 4 of the 2019 MLB season.

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Leagues

OWNED IN: 5% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Mike Tauchman has been one of the primary beneficiaries of the walking calamity that is the Yankees team. Coming up in the Rockies organization, he was viewed as a high-average guy with speed. In his six minor league seasons, he has a .304 batting average and a .374 on-base percentage. Before 2019, Tauchman only had 59 total major league at-bats in sporadic opportunities. His season average (.205) hasn’t been particularly impressive, but in the last week he leads the team in homers (three), runs (seven), and RBI (eight). He also has a .261 average during that time. He enjoys a full six games for the rest of the week in sunny California. He will face off against the Angels and Giants. Lefty Tauchman will enjoy facing five right-handed pitchers this week. Batting in the middle of the Yankees lineup affords him more run and RBI opportunities as well. He also has yet to attempt to steal a base but don't be surprised if he changes that this week.
