ANALYSIS: After playing 31 games as a pro, Mike Gesicki finally finished a game with two receiving touchdowns. Who would have said in such a season for the Dolphins… Gesicki completed his best game ever to the tune of 82 yards on 6 receptions (he was targeted 12 times!) and that couple of scores for a total tally of 26.2 fantasy points. Quite the night for the second-year tight end.

The first season as a professional wasn’t great for Mike Gesicki. He finished 2018 with only 202 yards on 22 receptions and no touchdowns to his name, though he played the full 16 games with the Dolphins. This year, though, he’s more than doubled down on that production. Through Week 16 and with one game to play, Gesicki is already at 536 yards and four touchdowns on 47 receptions. Digging deeper, he’s had six receptions for more than 20 yards (he had one last season) and is averaging 11.4 yards per catch while last year he could only amount to 9.2. Gesicki has been good all year, mostly from Week 6 on. Since then he’s had four games of at least 11 FP, one of 18.9 FP, and another one of 26.2 this past weekend.

The Dolphins face a tough team in New England to close out their season. The Patriots rank seventh against the TE position in fantasy leagues, but they’re already qualified for the playoffs and guaranteed a bye so they might rest some players. Gesicki comes in as hot as a tight end can and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick keeps playing for the win every single day. If you have multiple flex spots to fill or are streaming TEs in a 14+ team or deeper league Gesicki should be more than good for you this weekend. He’s posted 11.8-plus points in three of his last five games and his 12 targets this past Sunday bode well for him in his season finale.
