Mid-Week Fantasy Basketball Category Streamers for Week 9

NBA fantasy baseball streamers waiver wire pickups

Thunder Dan Palyo looks at some mid-week waiver wire options for fantasy basketball leagues. These players may be free agents to target on waivers in Week 9.

We have four games today in the NBA and then a really solid 10-7-7 breakdown of games from Friday to Saturday that should allow optimal streaming for those who are willing to take the time to find the right players! I'm back to help you do that today with the latest installment of my mid-week streamers!

Most leagues limit how many adds you can make each week in daily leagues. If your league only allows three moves per week, you need to be very efficient with your moves and grab players who will help you maximize your games played and help you win an extra category or two of counting stats.

The goal of this article each Thursday morning will be to help you plan out your roster moves for the remainder of the week. By this point of the week, you should start to get an idea of what categories you may need help with and where your weekly opponent is the strongest and weakest (in H2H formats). If you're playing roto, you don't have to gameplan quite as much, but you'll still want to maximize the stats your team can accumulate during the week. All the rostered percentages used in this article are from Yahoo. Let's see who can help us finish the week strong.

Weekly Schedule: Thursday to Sunday

Teams that play only one game (AVOID): Atlanta, Philadelphia, Sacramento, San Antonio

Teams that play three games (TARGET): NONE

Teams that play back-to-back days (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun) (TARGET): Cleveland, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Portland, Washington (only Sat-Sun team)

 

Shallow League Streaming Options

Jalen Duren - PF/C (41%)

Duren simply should be on rosters in standard leagues at this point, yet he's available in well over half of Yahoo leagues. He recorded his fourth straight double-digit rebounding performance last night with 19 boards in the Pistons' overtime win and blocked three shots. He's trending up in a big way and there's really no reason for Detroit not to play him more this year to develop the rookie. Grab him now if you want great FG%, boards, and blocks, he's not going to be on the wire in shallow leagues that much longer I suspect.

Markelle Fultz - PG/SG (37%)

Just when you thought Fultz was trending down and Cole Anthony was the Magic guard to own, he bounces back with a huge game against the Hawks as he posted a 16-7-9 line last night with 4 steals and a block. At some point, Jalen Suggs is going to return to muddy up the minutes, but Fultz is worth adding for the two-game set with Boston this coming weekend.

Jordan Goodwin - PG/SG (34%)

Goodwin moved back to the bench with Monte Morris's return to the starting lineup but he was still productive (12 points and 6 assists) in 20 minutes with the second unit. He went without a steal for the first time in seven games last night and is usually good for a few swipes. I mentioned him as a steals specialist in Monday's column but he has been a solid scorer and passer whether he's starting or coming off the bench.

Will Barton - SG/SF (25%)

From one Wizard right to another. Barton has posted two massive lines in a row and we still don't have any concrete updates on Bradley Beal's return to the lineup. Perhaps "Will the Thrill" is about to go a nice little run here as the Wizards' primary bench scorer and passer and I'm adding him in some leagues just in case.

 

Deep Leagues Streaming Options

Donte DiVincenzo - PG/SG (11%)

Donte D has played his way into a significant bench role for the Warriors and got a spot start last night with Klay Thompson out. He played 38 minutes and produced a solid 15-8-3 line with three treys. The dude has always been a superb rebounder for a guard and with the news that Steph Curry could miss some time, he's a priority add for me in deeper formats. We should see Jordan Poole slide over to point with Curry out with Donte playing the two or the three next to Klay Thompson until Andrew Wiggins is ready to return.

Quentin Grimes - SG/SF (11%)

It isn't always pretty, but Grimes continues to log heavy minutes for the Knicks and has established himself as one of Coach Thibs's guys. He's scored in double digits in three of his last four and contributes in threes, steals, and blocks making him a sneaky add in deeper formats or simply a good guy to stream when you need him.

Jevon Carter - PG/SG (13%)

Jrue Holiday is slated to miss another game tonight against Memphis, meaning Carter should likely stick in the lineup as the starting point guard. He hasn't done too much in the scoring column for a while, but he's played 28 minutes now in two straight games and is a guard who can help you with assists and steals without hurting your FG% or turnovers. I added him this morning in a league where I really value efficiency and I am hoping for a little more in the counting stats department tonight from Carter.

Coby White - PG/SG (4%)

Coby White has had some life lately thanks to some injuries to Alex Caruso and Ayo Dosunmu. He's averaged around 28 minutes a game over his last three and has always been a solid scorer and passer with minutes. Chicago is a mess right now and there have been a lot of rumors about them blowing up this team with Lonzo Ball perhaps done for the season and the Bulls lagging behind in the standings. White could be a nice stash candidate here as well if Zach LaVine or others were dealt in the next few months.

 

Specialist Streaming Options

THREES

Corey Kispert - SG/SF (5%)

Kispert has become a mainstay of this column lately, but there simply isn't a better three-point shooter so widely available than he is. He's playing huge minutes and knocking down triples in bunches with three games where he made four threes over the last two weeks.

STEALS

T.J. McConnell - PG (5%)

McConnell's output can vary greatly from game to game, but he's locked into a pretty solid 18-minute role off the bench for Indiana. He does a few things really well and has the good sense not to try to do other things. He doesn't shoot threes, which keeps his FG% pretty solid and he is an excellent passer and defender. If you need some assists and steals, T.J. can boost those categories without hurting you elsewhere.

BLOCKS

Darius Bazley - SF/PF (3%)

Bazley returned to the starting lineup last night and played a season-high 31 minutes as OKC actually tightened up their rotation for once. Who knows if that will stick or not, but Baz is definitely a guy who can post usable stats with minutes. He's averaged 1.2 blocks per game in only 16 minutes per contest so far and can contribute some modest stats across the board if he can stick in the starting lineup, or at least earn 20+ minutes off the bench.
