Michael Brantley's Recovery Continues To Progress Well, Targeting June Return

Indians' President Chris Antonetti shared on MLB Network's High Heat with Christopher Russo that outfielder Michael Brantley continues to be on track to miss the first couple months of the regular season as he recovers from off-season surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. After having speaking with him minutes before the interview, Antonetti shared that “[Brantley's] feeling good and pushing our trainers to push forward his timetable.”

While drafting injured stars is never a preferred method of player acquisition, fantasy owners should take note to remember Brantley between now and his on-field return. Since the start of the 2014 season, few players in the game have displayed his hitting prowess: he ranks in the top 10 in hits (6th, 364), OPS (8th .382) and batting average (3rd, .319). His continued growth in doubles (1st, 90), K% (2nd, 8.3) and BB/K (3rd, 1.07) depict a young player still coming into his own. If he can return to the Tribe healthy, the team and fantasy owners alike will reap the benefits of a big second half. Hope your competition ignores him on draft day.
