Matchday 14 Preview: 2024-2025 UCL Fantasy Picks and Top Captaincy Tips

Jude Bellingham - UEFA-lineup-picks-daily-fantasy-soccer-fanduel-draftkings-icon

Adewale covers top fantasy tips and captaincy picks for Matchday 14 in the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League season.

Matchday 13 of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League delivered thrilling action, highlighted by Barcelona's 4-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Real Madrid. The second leg of the quarterfinals is here, and we are thrilled for more UCL action to come.

Matchday 14 promises more excitement with headline clashes like Inter vs. Bayern and Aston Villa hosting Paris Saint-Germain this midweek. The road to Germany is set to be thrilling, ultimately leading to the final at Munich's Football Arena. RotoBaller remains your go-to source for top-tier UEFA Champions League fantasy content.

The Matchday 14 deadline of the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League season is Tuesday, April 15, at 3:00 p.m. EDT, when four teams kick off the quarterfinals. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every English Premier League slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

Matchday 14 UCL Fantasy Tips

Target Real Madrid and Inter Attack

After a difficult defeat at the Emirates last week, the Galacticos face a high-stakes match in which they want to reverse the 3-0 humiliation, as the 15-time UCL champions compete for a chance to retain the crown this season.

The outcome of this game may result in a change in management later on. As a result, the reigning champions face an enormous task, as Los Blancos need to qualify and likely shut out Arsenal from scoring on Wednesday.

Real Madrid is immensely driven to pull off the "Remontada" against Arsenal and believes that now is the time to demonstrate why they are the best in the world.

Inter Milan assets are back on this week's menu. This season, the blue and blacks have won all five home Champions League games, scored 11 goals, and conceded only one at the San Siro.

The Nerazzurri have the upper hand this midweek, with a 2-1 advantage over Bayern Munich. Moreover, Bayern Munich is still missing several crucial players, including Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies. Simone Inzaghi, Inter's manager, will be eager to see Inter's attack wreak havoc on the visiting German side.

Recommended UCL Fantasy Assets for Matchday 14

  • Real Madrid: Kylian Mbappe (on pens), Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham.
  • Inter: Hakan Calhanoglu (on pens), Lautaro Martinez, and Federico Dimarco.

The Clash of Champions - Aston Villa Comeback Dream?

Still on the theme of probable comebacks, Aston Villa are another team hoping to overturn their 3-1 loss at Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. The "Villains" are enjoying an exceptional run of form, having gone unbeaten in their previous five home games across all competitions.

Aston Villa have already defeated top clubs such as Bayern Munich, Celtic, Club Brugge, and Bologna at Villa Park, and with the fans behind them, the English side might challenge for a place in the semi-finals.

However, Paris Saint-Germain has not officially retired from the fight. PSG's leading UCL goal scorer, Ousmane Dembele, stated at the previous press conference that the French giants will not adjust their game to fend off Aston Villa and have come to finish the job.

In terms of fantasy points, the second leg between Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain appears to be an open contest with both teams potentially scoring. Hold on to your fantasy assets in this clash, as we could see a goal frenzy on Tuesday.

Matchday 14 Top Captain Picks

The Champions League midweek fixtures present many fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Lamine Yamal, facing Borussia Dortmund, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia against Aston Villa all present strong cases. However, our top two captain picks across the Round of 16 second leg are:

Raphinha (€7.8m) - Barcelona

Topping the Champions League goal-scoring charts with 12 goals, the Brazilian international has been phenomenal for the Catalans this season. Raphinha leads the UCL fantasy rankings with 119 points, making a total of 19 goal contributions in the Champions League this season.

Looking for a big-game player to boost your fantasy points this Tuesday? Then look no further, as Raphinha is our RotoBaller captain of the week.

Lautaro Martinez (€9.4m) - Inter

Due to Bayern's injury crisis, Lautaro Martinez, Inter's top scorer, is a strong candidate for the captain's armband this week. The Argentine international scored his seventh UCL goal of the season, becoming Inter's all-time top scorer in Champions League history.

With Inter's unbeaten home record this season, Martinez 'The Bull' is the favorite Inter asset to have on your fantasy team this week, as he will be eager to get on the scoresheet and is a top captaincy pick for our Wednesday fixtures.

Contrarian Captain (<10% ownership)

Marcus Rashford (€6.5m) - Aston Villa

Marcus Rashford's appeal this week is heightened by two factors: first, he was officially announced as the first penalty taker for Aston Villa ahead of Marco Asensio. Second, the Englishman currently boasts of four attacking returns (three goals and an assist) in his last five outings against Paris Saint-Germain.

With only one percent ownership, Rashford is the ultimate differential to bet on when facing Paris Saint-Germain this Tuesday.

Good luck with your final selections this week!
