Matchday 13 Preview: UCL Fantasy Picks and Top Captaincy Tips (2024-2025)

Adewale covers top fantasy tips and captaincy picks for Matchday 13 in the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League season.

Matchday 12 of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League delivered thrilling action, highlighted by Aston Villa's 3-0 victory over Club Brugge and Paris Saint-Germain's 4-1 victory over Liverpool on penalties. The quarterfinals are here, and we are thrilled for more UCL action to come.

Matchday 13 promises more excitement with headline clashes like Bayern Munich vs. Inter and FC Barcelona hosting Borussia Dortmund this midweek. The road to Germany is set to be thrilling, ultimately leading to the final at Munich's Football Arena. RotoBaller remains your go-to source for top-tier UEFA Champions League fantasy content.

The Matchday 13 deadline of the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League season is Tuesday, April 8, at 3:00 p.m. EDT, when four teams kick off the quarterfinals. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every English Premier League slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

Matchday 13 UCL Fantasy Tips

Target Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain

The six-time Champions League winners will host the Nerazzurri this midweek as both sides brawl for a spot in the final. Bayern Munich's recent home form in the competition, winning all five home matches and scoring 19 goals at the Allianz Arena, would be a confidence booster that the Reds can get the job done.

Bayern Munich is missing several players, including Alphonso Davies, Kingsley Coman, Alexander Pavlovic, and Jamal Musiala, who is sidelined for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, Kingsley Coman and Manuel Neuer are working hard to recover in time for the second leg and are doubtful for the first leg.

The French giants have gone a long way since their mixed league results; overcoming Liverpool in the Round of 16 and recalling their 4-1 victory over Manchester City on Matchday 7 should be enough to prepare them for their next English opponent, Aston Villa.

Paris Saint-Germain has scored 15 goals in their past five UCL matches, highlighting their elite strike force of Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembélé, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as must-haves for our fantasy team this week.

Désiré Doué could be a solid differential option. The 19-year-old has started the last three matches for PSG and scored four goals in 246 minutes.

Recommended UCL Fantasy Assets for Matchday 13

  • Bayern Munich: Harry Kane (on pens), Michael Olise, and Kim Min-jae.
  • Paris Saint-Germain: Vitinha (on pens), Ousmane Dembélé, and Achraf Hakimi.

Matchday 13 Top Captain Picks

The Champions League midweek fixtures present many fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Robert Lewandowski, facing his former club Borussia Dortmund, and Kylian Mbappe, facing Arsenal, all present strong cases. However, our top two captain picks across the Round of 16 second leg are:

Harry Kane (€10.8m) - Bayern Munich

Harry Kane, who set a new record for the most goals scored by an Englishman in the Champions League, is enjoying life in Germany. The 31-year-old just set a record for the quickest player to reach 100 goal contributions in a Bayern shirt.

The goal machine has 39 goals in 55 UCL appearances, cementing his place in history. Kane is a perfect fit for the captain's armband for our Tuesday games, as he looks to score his 40th Champions League goal against Inter.

Raphinha (€7.7m) - Barcelona

Topping the Champions League goal-scoring charts with 11 goals, the Brazilian international has been outstanding for the Catalans this season. Raphinha leads the UCL fantasy rankings with 105 points, making a total of 16 goal contributions in the Champions League this season.

Looking for a big-game player to boost your fantasy points on Wednesday? Then look no further, as Raphinha is one of our top captains for the home tie against Borussia Dortmund.

Contrarian Captain (<10% ownership)

Bukayo Saka (€9m) - Arsenal

Arsenal's 'Starboy' makes his return to the Champions League after missing out on his last outing against AS Monaco on Matchday 4.

Mikel Arteta spoke highly of his talisman in the midweek presser, saying that he is in 'good play to be able to be used,' indicating that he could feature right off the bat for the Gunners.

At only five percent ownership, Saka looks like the ultimate contrarian to bet on when facing Real Madrid, who have conceded 17 goals in the contest this season.
