Hey guys Bobby and I will be answering questions starting at 8! Feel free to start sending them in

Back in action. Re-united and it feels so good. And other song lyrics about how excited we are to do the chat again this season

Alright guys we'll be starting shortly! Lots of questions already so if we don't get to yours right away feel free to ask again. (just don't spam it over and over please)

Alright lets get this started! Whats up everyone?

Tom Brady's chances of playing week 1 seem good according to cbs and yahoo

@Doctor L we'll kick it off with some Brady discussion! The news does appear to be that he is likely to start week 1

Its a bit of a gamble to completely assume that if you haven't drafted yet but don't be afraid to bump him up a little bit. We should know by the end of this week

so would that mean the suspension is revoked? or will come in the following weeks?

There's a lot of good late round value for Brady and let's be honest- a suspension for inflating balls that he didn't even need to do? Sure the guy may be smug but football players are busy doing a lot worse. I mean - Joseph Randle is probably the starting RB for the cowboys and he stole undies!

(Tried to keep it light hearted at the end there)

Most likely revoked - Judge did say he plans to decide by Friday. We'll see if that's the case, it doesn't always work out as planned. But I agree with Rek, he is going at a good price right now if he doesn't miss any time.

should jonathan stewart still go in the 4th or sooner

I know Zach and I diverge on this subject.

I know Rek and I have differing opinions on Jstew and the Panthers offense as a whole. Jstew *was* the RB12 over the final 6 games of last season. As a result I like taking him if he falls past RB20 or so. Generally that is mid-late 4th

I want no part of J Stew. Injury history, lack of panther passing game=lack of red zone opportunities=no thank you.

Also a mobile QB who would steal all his red zone looks.

rek- same feelings toward cam?

No. Cam Newton still has some good value with his legs. I do worry about his passing numbers a bit but he can make it up with rushing tds if necessary.

Totally agree that Cam will steal goal line looks but Jstew is the uncontested feature back. Like I said he was RB12 over the final 6 games and I think he only had 1 or 2 touchdowns during that span. Health is only major worry for me.

Will Isaiah Crowell continue to be the starting rb?

The Browns is RB situation is...messy to say the least. If you recall last year it was pretty hard to predict who was starting any given week and HC Mike Pettine didn't really give any info ahead of time

Naturally to further complicate the matter they drafted Duke Johnson in the 3rd. Right now I think Crowell is the guy but its not a guarantee. That said, I've seen him fall past 100. For a potential starting RB its worth the gamble at that point

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me to see the Browns go out and get someone else. I think they really wanted Duke Johnson to eventually take the job despite Crowell being serviceable

I like Duke as well at the very least I think he can get the 3rd down role

It's definitely between Johnson and Crowell and if you're getting Crowell late as Zach said-great job

Will Julio Jones outperform Dez Bryant this year? My thinking is yes but I'm not sold n Dez as much as Julio especially in redzone targets am I crazy?

I hate to say it as a Giants fan but I have Dez slightly ahead of Julio personally.

I really like both Dez and Julio its one of those situations where I don't think you can go wrong. Personally I prefer Dez. He's had far more success in the red zone and I don't think that will change. But both are incredible players.

The Falcons don't have the best oline right now and that means Matt Ryan could have trouble getting Julio the ball. I'd take Dez in a vacum

Very good point

DeVante Parker a better option than Brian Quick and Markus Wheaton?

I'm a big DeVante Parker fan. Dolphins offense has become pretty pass heavy and Parker has a similar physical profile to A.J. Green. That's my pick

I love DeVante too which ties to my love of Ryan Tannehill for the coming year.

I'm pretty much all in on the dolphins (weird phrase to say)

I like Quick, he looked pretty good prior to injury. Wheaton I'm not a big fan of. He was starting before Martavis Bryant emerged last year and didn't do much then. Don't see a different story this year

Thoughts on the vets on the colts? (frank gore, Andre johnson)

Yeah I agree with Zach. If I had to rank them I'd go DeVante>Quick>Wheaton

Listen-any time you have Andrew Luck throwing you the ball you're going to find success. Andre may be older but he knows how to get things done and that combined with a great QB will carry him to relevance this year.

Colts offense is going to be awesome so as a result both players seem like pretty safe picks despite their advanced age. I especially like Andre Johnson. This will be by far the best QB he's ever had and just last year he had 940 yards and 3 TD I believe. He might have a bit of a revival even with T.Y. and the younger guys around

^

As for Gore I like him as a result of the passing offense but he is pretty old with a lot of mileage. I still think he can exceed 1000 yards, I just don't see him as an RB1 like some do. Mid-RB2 range

if lesean mccoy is out week 1, who does buff go with at rb? committee? karlos williams?

Gore also has a decent amount of job security

"Boom" Daniel Herron probably isnt challenging him for the job any time soon

very true^

It seems like there is a decent chance McCoy will miss week 1. Problem is we don't know for certain that Karlos Williams will be ready to go either. He's missed the past several weeks with an undisclosed injury. He was looking really good in early August but I'm not convinced even if he does play that they will feel confident enough to give him a lions share of carries

I agree but I would love to see Karlos get a full workload

Williams would be the guy to go with IF McCoy is out and Williams plays but I would expect some sort of ugly committee between him, "Boobie" Anthony Dixon and maybe Bryce Brown

Player profiler has his best comp as Knile Davis and we all know if davis had a starting role he'd be a stud. It'd be nice to see both get carries

What do you guys think about the WR position on green bay due to jordy nelson unfortunate injury?

I may be biased because I own Davante Adams in dynasty but I think he's the guy to get and not Jeff Janis. Obviously Cobb gets a nice bump as well assuming the ankle holds up. More importantly-look for some sneaky TE value from Richard Rodgers.

In standard sized leagues, not bothering with Janis or Ty Montgomery

Sounds like we are on the same page with Richard Rodgers. Love him as a late round flier

Yeah I regret trading him to you last year now.

Other relevant note-this would mean I take Luck as my QB1 and Aaron Rodgers as my QB2

agreed. I had Rodgers #1 pre injury but switched them

Pierre Garcon or Marvin Jones as a 4th or 5th WR ... which one would you pick?

I actually have Marvin Jones ahead. I really like the Bengals offense all around and with Kirk Cousins starting in Washington I'm not super excited about Garcon OR DeSean Jackson.

Garcon was great in 2013 but didn't have nearly the same impact once Djax came to town. I don't expect him to bounce back much

Garcon did have good chemistry with Cousins last year though. I think I'd go with him personally.

Call me skeptical but I can't buy into andy dalton keeping more than one wr relevant

Hey he did it two years ago!

demarco murray or c.j. anderson?

I'm pretty high on DeMarco but I seem to be in the minority there. At least between he and CJA I'll take Murray every time. The Eagles O-line is MUCH better even after the signing of Mathis for Denver.

Demarco also has a much longer track record of being good. Man what is with all the love I'm giving other teams in the NFC east tonight?

Rek is a Giants fan fyi but apparently he loves Cowboys and Eagles!

What do you guys think about the running back situation on the Gaints? Who would you personally take at there ADP

We'll take a Giants question just for Rek. I don't feel good about the RB situation at all. I think Rashad Jennings is the guy but neither he or Andre Williams looked very good last year

I think Shane Vereen will have sneaky value in PPR because and just hear me out here

Shane Vereen should have a lockdown on the third down role and I think he is still a good pick in PPR leagues

If the giants whole plan isn't stretch the field with odell and then dump it to vereen if he is triple covered

I will be sad

that should be their whole plan

Its true in 3rd and long situations you have to imagine Odell Beckham will see a lot of double coverage and they might dump it off to Vereen and see if he can get the extra yards

What qb would you try to get for CJ Anderson

Clearly this chat is my audition for their offensive coordinator position

Even though I wasn't exactly positive about CJA when comparing him to DeMarco, I would take CJA over all QBs

There is no QB I'd get for CJ Anderson

He's still a #1 RB in a very good offense

ronnie hillman sneaky pick this year?

but going off of that - Ronnie Hillman has been impressing this preseason. I've always liked him. I think its smart to grab him as a handcuff or as a late round flier. I expect CJA to remain the starter but Hillman has serious upside if something goes wrong (ineffective or injury)

^

but really Montee Ball is the secret weapon we all need!

Just kidding-don't take ball

I'm just sad because I took a chance on him in dynasty

is taking Anderson first overall too much?

Taking anderson first overall is definitely too much

I would not take Anderson 1st overall. For me the discussion at #1 is between Eddie Lacy / Jamaal Charles and Le'Veon Bell

You can throw Antonio Brown in there if it is full PPR

what about Brown?

it is full ppr

For me it is Lacy in all formats but those are the 4 guys in the discussion.

would you take David Johnson or duke johnson?

idk zach

In leagues like two QB or OP position

you could make an argument for Luck

definitely. But you know me I prefer to wait at QB (though I couldn't pass up Rodgers at #6 overall in my 2QB league the other day)

Two rookie RBs drafted in the third round - I'll go with Duke. More realistic opportunity to win a starting job.

I don't think HC Bruce Arians has been happy with David Johnson's performance this preseason. That's why he brought in Chris Johnson as well. David Johnson doesn't appear to be any threat to Andre Ellington, while Duke can be a threat to Crowell.

I agree with Zach-plus apparently John Brown is the real deal meaning no goal line looks for the cardinals running backs anyway!

Kidding but seriously-people are super high on John Brown.

John Brown hype is through the roof the past couple of weeks!

We shall see if it materializes in the regular season

What do you guys think about Jordan matthews? real deal on the eagles high power offense? or should i be looking nelson agholor?

Big Jordan Matthews fan here. I think he's got all the right attributes - size, speed, college success, very promising rookie season, apparently a very driven person as well. I think he will be the real deal. I don't want to get TOO excited in just his 2nd season but he can approach low-end WR1 numbers

I have Mathews higher than Agholor but both should do pretty well. Honestly-any chip kelly receiver could be due for a big year.

Please stop making me praise the eagles guys!

lolll

I like Agholor too but I think the pass game will run through Matthews. Both are solid values in ADP

Round 3 standard go gore or Jordan Matthews / Brandin Cooks

Matthews went so low in my work league auction that I almost bid on him

I'll take on of the WRs there. I prefer Matthews but wouldn't fight too hard on someone that preferred Cooks

*one of the WRs

but then I went "an eagles player isn't even worth it to win money" (but really I'm the dumb one here)

hahaha

Also

Round 3 nonppr. Assume went rb/wr would you take gore or cooks/Matthews?

I'm all aboard that Cooks train. That said-I'd still take Matthews

Given extra info - answer still the same

how has ameer abdullah looked this preseason as opposed to joique bell?

Well Bell has sat out the entire preseason recovering from an achilles injury so Abdullah wins that one

I know Bell said he is the bell cow

(that seems redundant)

Don't believe him

Abdullah will eat into his carries

But Abdullah has actually looked really good this preseason. To the point that I actually prefer him over Joique. Lets not forget Joique was already at 3.9 YPC each of the past two seasons. He's 29 coming off surgeries where he missed all of preseason? I'm avoiding

i got an update on my phone (but it was B/R, so questionable) saying abdullah's getting 15-20 carries/game

It's not clear what the split will be at this point but I wouldn't be surprised if Abdullah exceeds 15 touches per game

trent richardson or jamarcus russell ??

or ryan leaf

neither?

Now this is a great question. Trent Richardson is now apparently in the discussion for worst RB of all time which is impressive. Jamarcus and Ryan Leaf meanwhile were colossal busts in their own right. I'd have to go Jamarcus because he was one of the most athletic QBs ever seen but busted and grew to like 300 lbs? plus he had some drug addiction right? damnnn

lol trent richardson. made 18m in his career for doing almost nothing.

you have to agree the whole trent thing is overblown, it's not like he got arrested

I have no comment. I'm only here so I wont get fined.

Trent was just bad / doesn't seem to care about football. Agree he's got it going for him that he never got arrested for anything

However, I've seen a lot of hilarious trent memes pop up so thats been a nice bonus.

DYNASTY LEAGUE: Alshon Jeffery, Travis Kelce, 2016 3rd and 4th round pick.....FOR... A.J. Green and Devante Parker...thoughts? Any help is much appreciated....

I'm not sure how Zach will lean but I'd take the Alshon side of that deal all day long.

man that is a big time trade. I'll take the two WRs. AJ Green > Alshon and Devante > Kelce. Obviously Parker hasn't done anything yet but he is going to be a special player in my opinion.

obviously Devante > Kelce in DYNASTY only not redraft

Sure it'd be nice to also have davante parker, but both green and alshon are wr1. Kelce is going to be a top tier te imo. And I believe in the ability to find nice value with late picks

In dynasty Green is quite a bit more valuable than Alshon for me.

It could also be because I'm coming at it from the perspective of someone who is stacked at wide receiver in dynasty though...

then again so am I

Jordan Cameron a top TE this year? I feel he is Miami's best red zone option

no no correct answer it sounds like? lol

split decision here, sorry we couldn't get a unanimous one for you

I remember the days of Jordan Cameron being considered an elite option. It wasn't that long ago. It was really only concussions that derailed him. Well I guess also the browns qb situation.

That said-the dolphins have way too many weapons now to make cameron their only option or even their go to option.

I think Cameron can get 700+ yards and 6+ TD not exactly great but he'll make a solid TE1.

Mark ingram what do you guys think about this year

Mark Ingram is my boy.

Ingram is the 1st and 2nd down back in New Orleans. they've improved their O-line and after getting rid of Jimmy Graham / Kenny Stills others I think they will likely run more. He's a low end RB1/very good RB2 for me

C.J. Spiller!

+ Khiry Robinson

I love Cooks too. But Ingram will benefit from a lack of passing options. I know people are all "C.J. Spiller is going to eat into his carries especially on passing downs" but he can get his work

I agree with Zach. I see him as a RB 1B. Not a 1. But a 1b.

If he is your second option-congratulations. You've drafted wisely.

Spiller will take the 3rd down role and I think he can approach Darren Sproles numbers...60-70+ catches and 5+ rec touchdowns. I like him a lot in PPR leagues

I think Sproles had 75+ catches 800+ yards and 6-8 touchdowns a couple different years if I remember correctly

The Saints won't be nearly as bad as I've seen some pundits predict

that's just my take though

FYI we will be ending at 9 PM eastern so just a few more questions!

Brandon Coleman a nice sleeper WR?

Coleman is the most likely candidate for WR3 in New Orleans. He's BIG like 6'6" so he has serious touchdown potential. He hasn't done much this preseason though

On the topic of the saints-Yeah he is. Drew Brees has spoken quite a bit about their chemistry. He is an athletically gifted individual and oh yeah the Saints cut Nick Toon. That should tell you all you need to know about what think about Coleman

*what they* even

I think he makes a good late round flier but I'm not holding onto him for more than a couple games if he isn't producing, look elsewhere

receiving order in seattle and carolina?

Seattle: Jimmy Graham > Doug Baldwin > Jermaine Kearse > Tyler Lockett (Not Ricardo Lockette lol)

Carolina- Greg Olsen > Devin Funchess > everyone else stinks

that said I'd rather take Lockett over Kearse because I don't think Kearse has any upside

Carolina - Olsen > Funchess > ?? Jerricho Cotchery probably > Corey Brown / Kevin Norwood > Ted Ginn

heard norwood was the #1 in carolina earlier

There's a reason I don't believe in the Panthers passing attack

and it's because they have no third option

I'm not buying Norwood as #1. He just got there and did nothing with the Seahawks

no opportunity for him in seattle but liked him at bama

He's old for a 2nd year guy (turns 26 soon) and not very athletic...I don't see much in him myself.

also lets give a hand to corey brown and his dropitis this preseason

He really blew it

If you like him i wouldn't draft him but just keep him on your radar

Yeah Corey Brown (Philly Brown previously) has had like 6 drops this preseason and absolutely ruined his chance to maybe make an impact.

Zack rek what are your thoughts on Roy Helu in ppr?

Roy Helu is a nice late round flier in PPR. He'll be the pass catching back and Derek Carr isn't as bad as some people seem to think.

I like Roy Helu quite a bit in PPR. I think he can catch 40-50+. He had a couple decent seasons in Washington if you can get him late I think he is good value

You buying into the Doug Martin hype?

Rek has to run but I'll take a couple more questions

bye rek!

Doug Martin - I hate to say it but I AM intrigued. I feel kind of like a fool after two years of disappointment but he has looked pretty good this preseason.

It looks like Charles Sims is no threat at all so Martin should be able to clear 200 carries if he stays healthy, I think he's good value even with some recent ADP surge

zach Shane vereen or Roy helu in ppr?

Vereen > Helu but when you factor in how much earlier Vereen is going in drafts I think Helu is the better value

What do you guys think about amari cooper?

michael crabtree resurgence year in oakland? i've taken him in most leagues so far

I'll talk about Amari Cooper and Crabtree then I think we'll call it a night!

Cooper definitely seems to be the real deal. I've heard pretty much nothing but great things about him. 1000 yards seems pretty reasonable for him. Honestly in redraft he is going a bit too high for me compared to more established players

Like for example Larry Fitzgerald - he was great with Carson Palmer last year (averaged 80 yards a game in the 6 that Palmer started). Sure there is some worry about whether Palmer can stay healthy but I still think Fitz is a great player and I think there is a decent chance Palmer plays the majority of games so I'll take a guy like Fitz over the unknown. Even if that unknown sounds great

As for Crabtree - he is basically free. I got him around pick 180 in a 3WR+flex 14 team league last night. Raiders are supposedly very impressed with him and he had some pretty good seasons in San Francisco

I think he could exceed 800+ yards. Cooper is definitely going to be the #1 but I like Crabtree as a late round guy in deeper leagues

sucks he had colin kaepernick. would've been better without him

Yeah Crabtree was actually finding success with Alex Smith before he got benched

You've probably heard the whole 'Alex Smith has never had a 1000 yard receiver' thing but over Smith's final 16 starts in SF Crabtree put up an 85-1049-7 line. (I'm going off memory - I looked it up a couple days ago)

so Crabtree has had a pretty good stretch before. He's definitely talented

just not a fan of kaepernick. gabbert's been better than him this year so far. which says a lot

I mean that's one of those things where the preseason is the preseason. Kaep wasn't great last year but he was still a competent QB which is more than can be said about Blaine Gabbert.

Anyway that will wrap up tonight's chat. Thanks for all the questions. The season is almost upon us!! Rek and I will be here next week, same time Wednesday at 8 Eastern

i love that the niners gave kaep that contract. going to hurt the team for years

With that, we are closing up the chat. Thanks for coming guys. We'll be on again next week. Any questions we didn't get to - feel free to tweet us. I'm @LopsidedTrades and Rek is @RekedFantasy

Thanks guys, peace!
