KBO DFS Lineup Picks for 5/22/20 - DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball

John Gresen's KBO DFS lineup picks for contests on FanDuel and DraftKings on 5/22/20. Daily fantasy baseball analysis for pitchers, hitters and DFS stacks.

Hello everyone I hope you all enjoyed my first DFS column at Rotoballer. If you haven't been following me on Twitter @efhatch1990dfs, then you should start! I have been covering KBO since day one and creating my own personal sheets to help people win money. I am going to include some of that data here in my Rotoballer column, too.

New to KBO? Don't worry, we got you covered! DraftKings and FanDuel will use the same scoring system that they do for MLB, however, the roster builds are much different on FanDuel. You must roster two infielders, two outfielders, and two utility players along with a pitcher for a total of only seven players on FanDuel. DraftKings has kept its normal MLB structure with two starting pitchers and an entire eight-hitter lineup for a total of ten players. Building lineups on each site is going to be a good bit different on most nights.

Today, I'll be providing my KBO DFS lineup picks and analysis for this five-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 5:30 AM on Friday, May 22, 2020. Both DraftKings and FanDuel have large contests with big top prizes. DraftKings' largest contest has a top prize of $25K to first and FanDuel has a contest with a top prize of $5K to first. Make sure you are also following me @Grownfool on Twitter!

KBO DFS Pitchers

2020 Pitchers Stats

Lets me preface this by saying this slate is loaded with pitching, these are who just stuck out to me.

Hyun Jang Yang ($9K DraftKings, $27 FanDuel)

I will be building one cash line, and one GPP SE line, and he's going to be in both. At -215 they are the largest favorite on the slate. I expect him to be chalky going up against a struggling SK offense who is striking out at the second-highest clip this year at 20%, and middle of the pack in 2019, for the lineup I projected to start.

Besides Tae Hoon Kim, who is going from relief to starting duties this year, he has the highest strikeout percentage in 2019 - a full seven percent higher the Brigham. If he can avoid Romak and Choi in the middle of the order he should be just fine.

Young Gyu Kim ($5.5K DraftKings, $23 FanDuel)

This is my GPP pitcher, but he might be chalky being cheap and -160 favorites. He has been very good through his first two games, and at that price, it's all we need really. But he has K upside here. LG strikeout at the second-highest clip as a team according to the 2019 data, but they are also sixth in K% this year. He can get definitely get a few strikeouts tonight.

Here's a table I made for Team AVG for the projected starters with 2020 data:

Other starters to consider are:

  • Despaigne (Cash)
  • Jake Brigham (GPP)

KBO Top Hitter Stacks

KT Wiz (EVEN)

Will today will be the day to play KT in GPP and not have to worry about high ownership being their underdogs? Like every day, these guys are on fire, but they cooled a little bit last night. My bankroll felt it, but I'm going to keep going back to the well.

Honestly this is a hot bats stack and I'm not just targeting Kelly (hedge life?) who has been a good pitcher in the KBO. I'm not going to miss a chance at these guys with low ownership tonight.

Main targets:

Mel Rojas Jr., Baek Ho Kang, Jae Gyun Hwang, and for salary savings Woo Jun Sim.

Doosan Bears (-160)

Per usual, I will be stacking Doosan against a HR-prone Lively who has given up 2.08 HR/9 and this team is stacked. This should be a high scoring game. Salaries will be hard to fit, but I think Doosan is one of the best hitting stacks.

One cheap target on this slate is Joo Hwan Choi and I have him batting fifth at only $2,600 on DraftKings. Kun Woo Park has been struggling this year so leave him out unless you're stacking multiple ways.

Main targets:

Jose Fernandez, Jae Hwan Kim (if starting), as well as Jae Ho Kim, is a good salary saver too.

KIA Tigers (-215)

KIA has the highest run total on the slate, they are up against Joo Han Kim who pitched in 11 games last year with an ERA of 5.25. He has pitched only one inning this year and got destroyed giving up five earned runs.

So I think we can target him here with KIA being fourth in ISO, wOBA, and wRC+ in 2020. This could be a prime spot for them to put up a lot of runs. My main targets will be Preston Tucker, Hyung Woo Choi, Ji Wan Na, and Dae In Hwang. They have all been hitting for power this year.

2019

2020

I may throw a mini-stack at SAM since Yong Chan Lee likes to give up the long ball. San Su Kim, Dong Yeop, Ja Wook Koo would be my main targets. Saladino is still struggling, and I hate to see it since I'm a Brewer fan - but as I said I'm only building two lines tonight, so probably not f0r me. But in large field GPPs, toss the dart.

Good luck in your contests everyone, and stop back again for more KBO DFS analysis at RotoBaller!
