Josh Jackson (SG/SF, PHO) - Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add In 14-Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 36% of leagues

ANALYSIS: For much of the early parts of this season, it looked like Josh Jackson was going to follow up an inconsistent and ultimately disappointing rookie campaign with an even more inconsistent and disappointing second year. His name had started to swirl in some trade rumors, and things really came to a head when Jackson played under 10 minutes in three of four Suns games. His spot in the rotation was fading.

Then, the Suns made a change. After putting up 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench in a loss to the Clippers, Phoenix chose to put Jackson in the starting lineup in place of the injured Devin Booker. In the five games since, Jackson is averaging 12 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game along with 1.6 steals. He's shooting just 33.3 percent from the field and 14.3 percent from deep over that span as Jackson's per shot efficiency continues to be less than stellar, but he's getting raw numbers that can be useful for fantasy owners.

Is this whole thing temporary? Probably. Devin Booker's hamstring won't be hurt forever, and even if the Suns take their time inserting him back into the lineup, Jackson's eventually moving back to a bench role where his lack of efficiency will become a pretty big issue.

But for now, in the short term? You can get a guy who gives you points, rebounds, assists, and steals that can help fill in some of the gaps in your roster, especially if you've been ignoring your field goal percentage mark. Jackson isn't some answer to what ails your fantasy squad and this recent stretch doesn't do much to make it seem like he's got a future in Phoenix, but for now he can provide you with a little bit of help to get you through the next week or two (or who knows -- keep an eye on injury updates about Booker.)
