Is Travis Etienne Injured or Healthy? Fantasy Football Injury Update

Travis Etienne Jr. fantasy football rankings draft sleepers running backs

Is Travis Etienne injured or healthy? Is Travis Etienne playing in Week 9? Read the latest Travis Etienne fantasy football injury updates and outlook.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne has been a fantasy superstar in his second NFL season. The young back currently ranks as the RB2 through eight weeks and is averaging a whopping 20.49 PPR fantasy points per game.

In Week 8, Etienne continued his strong 2023 campaign by totaling 149 yards in the Jaguars' 20-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the 24-year-old left a portion of the game dealing with an ankle issue on Sunday.

Is Etienne injured or healthy? Let's dive in.

Travis Etienne Injury Update for Fantasy Football

Etienne came up limping in the third quarter and briefly left the game due to an ankle injury. The Jaguars running back also dealt with an ankle issue in the team's Thursday night win in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints. In that game, he didn't miss any snaps but did receive some work on the sidelines.

In Week 8, Etienne got hurt early in the third quarter and missed a handful of snaps before eventually returning and catching a 56-yard touchdown from quarterback Trevor Lawrence

Despite leaving the game for a bit with an ankle issue, Etienne looked perfectly fine on the field afterward. He didn't seem to have any limitations the rest of the game and finished the contest with 24 carries for 79 yards while also catching three passes for 70 yards and one touchdown.

Travis Etienne Fantasy Football Outlook

Considering Etienne returned to the game and handled a full workload, he appears to be fine heading into the team's Week 9 bye. If the 24-year-old is dealing with any type of low ankle sprain, the week off should help him recover. Jacksonville will next play in Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Etienne is off to a fantastic start to the season and is an easy RB1 moving forward. He has finished as a top-10 fantasy running back in six of eight weeks to begin the year. The Jaguars running back has also scored seven touchdowns over the past three games.

Etienne will have some tough matchups against the 49ers and Tennessee Titans after the Week 9 bye. But he's a must-start the rest of the year regardless of opponents.
