Atlanta Falcons quarterback Taylor Heinicke went undrafted during the 2015 NFL Draft. Heinicke had a productive college career, totaling 7,498 passing yards and 63 touchdowns in two years at Old Dominion.
The former Monarch star has bounced around the league during his NFL career. He also spent time in the XFL. Heinicke has played for five teams during nine years in the NFL – the Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, and Falcons.
However, the veteran mostly played for the Commanders. He played 26 games with the franchise, starting 24. The former Old Dominion star completed 64% of his pass attempts for 5,415 yards and 33 touchdowns, compared to 21 interceptions in Washington. Heinicke signed a two-year contract with the Falcons during the 2023 offseason.

Taylor Heinicke Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Atlanta signed the veteran quarterback to be the backup behind Desmond Ridder. However, many thought he should start over the former Cincinnati Bearcat star. After being the backup for the first eight games, the Falcons named Heinicke the starter for the Week 9 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
Despite a poor performance in the loss to Minnesota, the team stuck with the veteran quarterback. Unfortunately, Heinicke suffered a hamstring injury yesterday against the Arizona Cardinals. He had only 55 passing yards on 15 attempts in the game before leaving with the injury.
Thankfully, the veteran quarterback reportedly has a low-grade hamstring injury. The Falcons have a bye in Week 11, so there is a chance he won’t miss any time.
Taylor Heinicke Fantasy Football Outlook
Heinicke has played in the past three games. He relieved an injured Ridder in Week 8, completing 57.1% of his pass attempts for 175 yards, one touchdown, and 12.4 fantasy points.
The veteran completed 55.3% of his pass attempts for 268 yards, one touchdown, and 14.7 fantasy points in the Week 9 loss to the Vikings. Last week, he completed 53.3% of his pass attempts for 55 yards, one touchdown, and 9.6 fantasy points before leaving the game with the hamstring injury.
While head coach Arthur Smith hasn’t named the starting quarterback for the Week 12 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, many believe the team will go back to Ridder. Furthermore, the head coach said the decision would be for the rest of the season.
