The San Francisco 49ers selected Ricky Pearsall with the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Many fans were surprised by that pick, considering the team already has Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel Sr. in the passing game.
Pearsall, though, brings another element to this San Francisco offense. He totaled 65 catches for 965 yards and four touchdowns in his final college season at Florida. However, the rookie was just placed on the non-football injury list.

Ricky Pearsall Injury Update for Fantasy Football
On Tuesday, July 16, 49ers rookies reported to training camp for the first time. One player who was missing from camp was Pearsall. The former Florida product was placed on the non-football injury list hours before.
Being placed on the NFI list means that Pearsall suffered an injury away from the team. While there has been no update on what injury the rookie is dealing with, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area says "It doesn't sound like much."

That is certainly good news for Pearsall and the 49ers, as training camp starts in just a couple of days. The team can take the 23-year-old off the NFI list at any point, so there is a chance that he will be back on the practice field very soon.
Ricky Pearsall 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Right now, Pearsall does not have much fantasy value in 2024. He is likely the fifth option on offense -- behind Aiyuk, Samuel, George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey. However, things can change for him if the 49ers trade Aiyuk before the season begins.
Aiyuk requested a trade on July 16 and seems to want out of San Francisco after the team is unwilling to meet his contract demands. If that happens, the rookie should see a much bigger role in Year 1.

As a result, Pearsall would be a sneaky late-round pick in fantasy drafts on a top offense in the league. While it would likely take him some time to get accustomed to the NFL, he could really be a strong flex play in the second half of the season. However, with Aiyuk still on the team, the rookie might not have much fantasy potential in his first year.
