Is Joe Burrow Injured or Healthy? Fantasy Football Offseason Injury Update

Joe Burrow - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

Is Joe Burrow injured or healthy? Read the latest Joe Burrow fantasy football injury updates and outlook for 2024.

It was a year to forget for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Burrow injured his calf in the team's second practice of training camp in 2023 and missed the entire preseason. Then, he re-aggravated that same calf issue in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Despite not missing any time, Burrow was severely limited by that calf strain. He eventually fully recovered from that injury after the Bengals' Week 7 bye, but a new wrist injury popped up in Week 11 that caused the former LSU star to undergo season-ending wrist surgery.

So, is Burrow injured or healthy? What is his fantasy outlook this season? Let's dive in and find out.

Joe Burrow Injury Update for Fantasy Football

2023 was surely an injury-riddled year for Burrow, who dealt with a calf strain in the first half and a wrist injury in the second half. The 27-year-old tore a ligament in his right wrist after he threw a touchdown pass in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Burrow then underwent surgery to repair that torn ligament in his wrist and faced a long road to recovery. However, the Pro Bowl quarterback appears to be fully healthy entering the 2024 season.

Burrow was cleared for contact ahead of training camp, putting him in a good spot heading into the new season. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor also confirmed on Monday that the quarterback will play in the preseason at some point. So, it appears there will be no restrictions for the former LSU star in training camp this year.

Joe Burrow 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Those who rostered Burrow in fantasy last season likely weren't happy with his production. From Week 1 to Week 6 -- while he was dealing with a calf strain -- the 27-year-old averaged just 12.1 fantasy points per game. Once he recovered from that injury, though, he averaged 23.9 fantasy points from Week 8 to Week 10 before undergoing season-ending wrist surgery in Week 11.

However, with Burrow fully healthy again, he is a great pick at his 65.3 ADP on Sleeper. In the two full seasons he has played, the Bengals quarterback has finished as the QB7 (2021) and QB4 (2022) in fantasy.

As a result, fantasy managers should be confident in taking him as their QB1 this year. Burrow has solid weapons in the receiving game (Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins), and he has thrown for at least 4,500 yards and 34 touchdowns in two of the past three seasons. That makes him an easy selection in fantasy drafts in 2024.
