Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is quickly cementing his status as one of the faces of the NFL. He is one game away from leading his team to their second consecutive trip to the Super Bowl, and might just be months away from having to buy a bigger wallet.
Since being drafted by the team with the first overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, the former LSU star has secured his name alongside top superstar quarterbacks just a few years into his career. By doing so, he has also put himself in a position for a very large payday, perhaps as soon as this offseason.
Is Burrow going to sign an extension this year? Will he become the highest-paid QB in the NFL? Let's take a look at all the rumors and reports to find the answer.

Is Joe Burrow Going To Sign An Extension With The Bengals?
As the Bengals prepare this week for their second consecutive trip to the AFC Championship, reports are out that the team would like to extend their star and secure his services for years to come. Burrow had another phenomenal season, throwing for 4,475 yards and 35 touchdowns with 12 interceptions.
How much money will he make, and how long will the extension be? The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggested this week that Burrow may land a "mega-contract extension" as the star QB is finishing up the third year of his rookie deal.
If the team wants to keep the man known as "Joe Cool" in Cincinnati long-term, they will have to back up the Brinks truck. Business is booming in southwest Ohio these days, as the Bengals keep winning, and their quarterback keeps balling.
Will Joe Burrow Become the Highest-Paid QB In The NFL?
Some reports are estimating that his new contract extension could be in the range of $50 million dollars per year for up to six years. If that comes to fruition, Burrow would automatically place himself among the top three in the league in terms of his total contract value.
A Burrow deal could look similar to that of Josh Allen's or Kyler Murray's. The former will earn an average of $43 million per season over the six years of his contract, while Murray is poised to earn an average of $46 million annually over five years. It's safe to say that the 26-year-old from Ames, Iowa is likely to exceed that, and perhaps become the highest-paid QB in the league.
One would be hard-pressed to find fans of the Bengals that don't want to keep number nine in Ohio for many years to come. In fact, the man himself would also like to keep orange and black as his daily work uniform. "My plan is to be here my whole career, and I have a lot of confidence in the front office doing their jobs in the offseason," Burrow said.
