As we progress through the NFL Playoffs, many football fans are still participating in playoff fantasy leagues and NFL DFS contests. Staying on top of injury situations remains crucial ahead of Sunday's Conference Championship games.

San Francisco running back Elijah Mitchell is a player whose injury status we've kept an eye on all week long. Is Elijah Mitchell Hurt Or Healthy? Is Mitchell Out Today?

The 2022 regular season was an injury-plagued campaign for young Niners running back Elijah Mitchell. The talented second-year back was only able to appear in five regular-season games for San Francisco due to multiple knee injuries, including an MCL sprain.

Mitchell was able to return to the lineup for San Fran's regular-season finale and he's appeared in both of the Niners' playoff games, serving in a relief role to Christian McCaffrey. Unfortunately, Mitchell injured his groin in San Fran's Divisional Round victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

The 24-year-old logged three straight DNPs this week and officially carried a questionable tag into the weekend for today's NFC Conference Championship game against Philadelphia. Mitchell's outlook appeared grim when backup San Fran RB Tevin Coleman was promoted from the Niners' practice squad to the active roster on Saturday. Today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Mitchell will be inactive against the Eagles.

Fantasy Football Outlook For Elijah Mitchell This Week

While not an insurmountable injury for the Niners, Elijah Mitchell's absence will certainly hurt their rushing attack. The second-year back had looked explosive during the postseason while spelling starting running back Christian McCaffrey.

With Mitchell now officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles, look for CMC's workload to get dialed up a notch, while veteran back Tevin Coleman and rookie runner Jordan Mason will mix in as needed. Mitchell's absence will also likely open up increased opportunities for hybrid wide receiver Deebo Samuel, a dynamic threat that the Niners have used out of the backfield in the past.

For DFS purposes, only McCaffrey and Samuel deserve serious roster consideration. Mason and Coleman fall into dart-throw territory for large-field GPPs.
