Is Arch Manning Staying At Texas? 2024 College Football Outlook

Arch Manning - College Football Rankings, NCAA CFB DFS Lineup Picks

Is Arch Manning staying at Texas or is he in the transfer portal? Read about Manning's 2024 college football outlook after Quinn Ewers announced he is staying.

For obvious reasons, University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning has been in the spotlight since he began his high school career in 2019. The grandson of Archie and the nephew of Eli and Peyton was a big-time recruit in the class of 2023, but he did not simply choose to go to a program that would name him a starter right away.

Quinn Ewers started all but two games for the Longhorns, and backup Maalik Murphy started at quarterback otherwise. Ewers recently announced he is coming back for the 2024 season, meaning Manning will have to wait at least another year if he stays with the Texas program. In the modern era of college football, players often transfer quickly if they cannot earn playing time immediately.

Is Manning staying at Texas, or is he entering the transfer portal? Let's dive in.

Arch Manning Recruiting Profile/Freshman Year Review

In four seasons at Newman High School in New Orleans, Manning threw for 8,539 yards, 115 touchdowns, and just 19 interceptions. He added 748 yards and 19 touchdowns as a runner. His body of work made him the top overall prospect in the class of 2023 (247 Sports). Alabama, Georgia, and Texas seemed to be the finalists to land him, but ultimately, Texas prevailed.

As a freshman, Manning completed just two of his five passing attempts for 30 yards. The Longhorns were up by 50 against Texas Tech in that November outing.

Is Arch Manning Staying at Texas or Transferring?

Manning did not enter the transfer portal following Ewers' decision to stay in school. When asked if he should consider transferring, Eli Manning said "No. He picked Texas cause that’s where he wants to be. That’s where he wants to play football. He likes Coach (Steve) Sarkisian and his offense."

Although transferring has never been easier, Manning has a path to the starting job in 2025. He is also with a strong-minded offensive head coach. With eyes on the NFL in the future, he's in a great situation for development as Texas joins the SEC.
