Is Aaron Rodgers Healthy or Injured?
According to reports, Rodgers has been dealing with an injury to his thumb that he suffered back in Week 6, in a 27-22 loss to the New York Giants. The injury is on his throwing hand and he has been officially diagnosed as an avulsion fracture.
Remarkably to many, Rodgers has played through the issue and hasn't missed a game. Through 12 weeks, the quarterback has thrown for 2,682 yards and has thrown 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He is on pace for one of the worst statistical seasons of his distinguished career.
On Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, Rodgers suffered another injury after sustaining multiple hits, this time to his ribs. Postgame, the quarterback said, "I was having a hard time breathing and rotating my upper body." As of Tuesday, the details were still fuzzy on what exactly the diagnosis was after a battery of tests.
Is There Reason to Think Aaron Rodgers Will Not Play in Week 13?
There are two things that are undeniable when it comes to the Packers' team leader and quarterback. Firstly, he is a football player, so by nature, he is tough as nails. Secondly, he is hurting and has not one, but two injuries that make it very difficult to play football.
If playing with a thumb fracture on your throwing hand wasn't difficult enough, adding a painful rib injury to the mix certainly won't alleviate the concerns of Rodgers' fantasy owners. While he has somehow managed to play this season through pain, this latest setback has raised questions about whether or not he can take the field in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears.
The official diagnosis regarding Rodgers's ribs should come by mid-week. Even if the team's signal caller is given the green light to play, fantasy managers shouldn't feel too confident putting him in lineups in Week 13, as his abilities will be limited by injury.
