Is Aaron Rodgers Going To Be Traded This Offseason? Which Teams May Trade for Rodgers?

aaron rodgers fantasy football rankings news NFL DFS lineup picks

Is Aaron Rodgers going to be traded this offseason? Which teams may trade for Rodgers? Read the 2023 NFL free agency outlook.

Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers is fresh off of a season in which he missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018. Rodgers led the team to an 8-9 record and threw for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns on the year.

After a 2021 offseason full of rumors and rumblings that Rodgers’ relationship with Green Bay had been torn, the two negotiated a contract that kept the veteran under center for the Packers with a potential out after the 2023 season.

Following a disappointing season, the rumors have already heated up about Rodgers potentially retiring or being traded. Will he be traded this time around, or will he be back in Green Bay for another go in 2023?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Is Aaron Rodgers A Free Agent in 2023?

Although Rodgers is still under contract for 2023, his contract is mostly paid in bonuses rather than base contract. This gives Green Bay a lot of flexibility in being able to move their longtime quarterback with restructuring being an option.

Rodgers stated on his Pat McAfee Show appearance that the organization is allowing him to take his time on his decision to return, indicating the confidence they have in former first-round pick and understudy Jordan Love.

Is Aaron Rodgers Going To Be Traded This Offseason?

The rumor mill has already heated up regarding a potential Aaron Rodgers trade, with reports coming out that Green Bay would not consider dealing him to an NFC team but “will explore” dealing him to an AFC team.

Rodgers is aware of the trade rumors, stating that “everyone is entitled to their own opinion.”

The rumors were heavy last offseason as well, but the two-time MVP ended up staying put in Green Bay.

Which Teams Could Trade For Aaron Rodgers?

If Rodgers is indeed traded, it looks like it will be an AFC team that receives his services. Two teams that come to mind that would take an immediate jump to being a contender are the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets.

The Raiders pulled off a blockbuster trade for WR Davante Adams last offseason, who played in Green Bay with Rodgers for eight seasons. They opted to move on from longtime quarterback Derek Carr this season and are searching for a new signal caller. Reuniting the two would make a lot of sense.

The New York Jets have a roster build that resembles that of the two teams that will be competing for the NFC Championship this weekend.

With a young and impactful defense, a powerful offensive line, and a plethora of offensive weapons, New York is the epitome of a team that is a quarterback away from contention.

Stephen A. Smith likes the idea of Rodgers in New York, and NFL fans should like the idea too. Zach Wilson’s play severely limited an otherwise stacked roster that Robert Saleh has done an incredible job coaching. If they were to trade for Aaron Rodgers, they would contend.

Rodgers could just as easily opt to walk away from football. His decision, and that of the Green Bay front office, will be one of the most anticipated storylines heading into the 2023 offseason.
